Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone knew of any sprint specific technique drills or comments, comming from a swimming background where technique is highly valued is there anything important like elbow or hip position or is it just grab the drops and push to the max?

Get on the front head down bum up elbows out as far as you can and zig zag
all over the road.

Realy though work on pedal speed and then first find out if you are a sprinter of a stayer . if you are a sprinter you will soon start winning if not you need to work on other side and be able to attack and stay away.

Learn to sit on hang on wheels no matter how hard it is untill last 50 meters you may be stuffed but you can bet the others are also.

what the other 2 posters have said, and bike fit. you mentioned body position in regards to its importance in swimming and that idea applies to the bike too and how you fit on it. how well you end up sprinting, in races and in training (which impacts the races!) depends upon bike fit and your most efficient/powerful/balanced position (assuming your training for road racing/fast riding).

just as in swimming when you practice strokes w/ good form and proper hand/arm/body/leg positioning/movement to train your muscles to work most efficiently in order to achieve speed/power you need your best position on the bike to get those muscles in the best position and train them accordingly.
