SRAM Force Crank with Shimano 8spd gearing

I am currently running Shimano 8 speed gearing on my bike, and was given a SRAM Force crankset. Will this work using my existing Shimano controls?

The chain is too wide and will likely not work at all or very well. The best thing to do is to give it a try.

You may be able to change the chain rings, anyone know what is the PCD is for the Sram?

Yes, it'll be fine. You 'may' get more rubbinhg of the chain on the big ring when in smaller cogs but that's all. The chainrings are the same width as 8s, just a wee bit closer together.

Either 130mm for standard or 110mm for compact but not necessary to change the rings.
