He's posted something in the Roglic thread since he had this Avatar, so there is hope. It would indeed be a big loss for the forum. Who knows, he might just be on a nice vacation.

Maybe he's doing what I recommended some time ago: taking vacation during the Tour could be good for his nerves (especially if Teddy does Teddy's things again).

It's the end of an era. Froome has retired. When Nairo retires after the Vuelta, the big 4 will all be gone.
As for Froome, stars burn brightest before they die. He left it all out there and he can have no regrets. When i heard the news, i inhaled deeply. All my friends are going to be strangers.
A while back, I floated the idea of a Froome Forum day when we could celebrate Chris's contribution to humanity but sadly, it never took off.

There were about 18 posts in this thread about the forum being put into a default layout during an update of the XenForo software: I have moved them to the "About the Forum" section, in a new thread here.

Thanks... making it look like I'm randomly accusing the forum of being on drugs in a thread posted outside the clinic.

You accused me to be on drugs outside the clinic as well. I don't think it will tarnish your reputation. Also the Forum is on drugs objectively.

Personally, I'm going to ride as much as possible to generate as much fatigue as possible. The idea is to be even more intellectually compromised than usual to fully appreciate what we are about to experience, and comment accordingly.

E: And I'll obviously apply a version of the UAE training model. The only major digression is wolfing muesli instead of porridge.

RR offering free tours of the back of the woodshed.
Best tour ever

I'm glad that @Red Rick survived the Tour but he might need vacation to recharge batteries before the Vuelta! (from a secret source I've heard that Teddy wants to beat Rogla there and win some stages)

you need to lay off the porridge to give the rest of us a fighting chance

have you considered a diet of pizza and ice tea for the vuelta ?

Maybe I will skip some events to give others a chance. I already had some breaks (i.e. hiking in the mountains in the middle week of the Tour) but unfortunately for the forum there was internet on my phone!

I managed to reach a weight below 69 kg during the Tour, but then I didn't have the stamina to watch stage 14 to 20, so I'll certainly have to visit a Pogi Center to get the nutrition I'll need to get back to full health for the Vuelta.

I'll copy here what I put in the TdFF thread (where it wasn't very relevant, but the mattter had been raised and it was probably the place to catch most eyes:

Some of you may have seen this from @CParsons in another thread yesterday:
Yeah, there's 30K guest accounts online. AI scraper bots ruining the internet for everyone.
It's a huge problem and the modern internet is not built for it. All the services offering protection from (some of which we use FYI), have to adapt on the fly because as soon as you think it has been solved, the goalposts change and you have to re-think everything. It's just a mess, look here at the stuff from other forum owners.

and I don't think it is breaking any confidences to put the slight addition to that that he PMed to Cookster and I yesterday:

We have several measures in place to prevent it and we've reached out to the hosting provider to see if there's anything further that can be done.

We've seen it across several other sites in the catalog as well at different times, it just seems they found Cycling News this time around.

Unfortunately, there's no 'Do this and it will be fixed' scenario. It's a problem the whole internet is facing now fighting AI bots. If you look, the site is being swamped by 'Guest' accounts.

I don't think the Members online box in the right margin of the What's New page is only shown on a moderator's account. Yesterday evening I saw 32,000 "guests", dropping later to 26,000; this morning I have spotted as high as 42,000, currently 'only' 28,000.

When you are enjoying using AI, remember that this is a cost of it. Maybe if I ask AI in December to create a team of 33 riders that will do better next year than this, it will make a better selection than it did last time.

Speaking of ego maniacs , on many podcasts and interviews retiring, older riders sound bitter about technology and techniques. The old school, school of hard knocks, getting inside knowledge, etc are nearly over. Young riders, pre teens, teenagers come to the sport with everything it took previous pros years to accomplish and accumulate. Everything from fitting, physiological analysis, nutrition, race reviews using video are all common. Power meters and other biometric measurements are the norm, not special or for the elite exclusively. I enjoy listening to Armstrong era riders give or take @10 years bemoaning all that is currently available..to everyone. Big George and Lance talking about the current state of things is funny
