Froome was clean compared to Pogacar.

Besides that, in terms of personality, Pogacar is the tik tok armstrong.

He is a sneak, who does clown things when he sees a camara, and then at the same time, does arrogant things like this.

Froome's performances were more believable for sure.

It's Ronaldo and Messi from 10 years ago... in a 'sport' which relies on a bunch of riders going deep to give people entertainment.

Point being: if there's only one dude on tv and everyone else is obliterated... it's not fun anymore.

Sure, one-man dominance can be boring but I do think we will have the ultimate clash of the mutants at the Tour next year (if they avoid crashes).

I'll be honest: I'm getting bored.

Maybe it's end of season syndrome but the thought of Vinge and Pog dropping whatever nukes they drop these days and pushing the 3rd best 10 minutes down in next year's TdF is about as exciting as watching the Saudi football league.

It really would be interesting (I don't want to say "funny" yet) if there was some kind of "Willy Voet" incident soon. Where there is no way of UCI interfearing or controling / filtering information. Something that would shake up things a bit, it seems all to run a bit too smoothely....

You call this a sport ? I thought it became a spin-off of WWE. Same theatrics, same level of commentating and pure ridiculousness.
Before this season WWE was excactly what it was: Ridiculous way ahead of the rest rivalries between mutants - Pogi vs Vinge and WvA vs MvdP! Clash of the Titans!!! Now it's just Pogacar winning without getting winded. WWE has never been this boring and predictable (to my knowledge).

This is British wrestling. In the 80's. Tadej Pogacar is Big Daddy:

He can't be. He throw a water bottle to a kid.

He probably made that kid believe in miracles.

I miss the pre-COVID races of cycling. Started watching in 2011 and between 2011-2019 the Tour was generally predictable (with the exceptions of 2011 which had an amazing final week, 2014 which could have been an amazing 3 way battle without crashes and 2019 where Pinot could have won) but other races were very enjoyable .

2020 changed many things (and actually many races had suspense that year, but basically set the pecking order for the next few years - although signals were already there in 2019 with some of the performances that season)

Nowadays most of the time the winner is already known before the race (or at least the 2-3 potential winners). Lombardia is coming up in a few days, and I can't even get excited because Pogacar is the massive favourite. And everyone talks about how exciting it is, no it is not. (2021-2024 might have been the years with the least surprises).
Oh forgot to say, there are basically only few teams who can win the big races, Rest are trying to get scraps, except they can't get them most of the time either with how dominant Pogacar and co. are throughout the calendar and in races. (Pogacar won 12 GT stages this year lol)

For me it's not disgust but disbelief. Since his first TdF victory up to 2023 Pogacar was overall the best rider with outstanding performances but he was also sometimes vulnerable. All that changed in 2024. The giro got me thinking but Plateau de Beille was the real turning point. To be honest, for me it also means that in general I start to have less interest in the sport because I can see the 2000's starting all over again. I was a big fan of Jan Ullrich since his amazing victory on Arcalis in 1997 only to see him struggle year after year against Armstrong. You could sense that something was not right but the show continued for years followed by the inevitable downfall. The only thing on my mind was: "What if those guys were clean? Who would be better? " And at the same time you don't care anymore as you know they were all cheating.
I also agree. He took it to a whole other level this year. I think he can win Sanremo next year too.

In an interview with La Dépêche du Midi, the race director of the French Grand Tour, Christian Prudhomme was asked to tackle the doping question and whether or not he'd be surprised to find out in future that Pogacar had in fact been cheating.

"Given cycling's past, and not so long ago, the question is not an illegitimate one," admits Prudhomme, choosing his words carefully. "I don't have an answer. I can see that he gives a pretty impressive performance in competitions. The controls exist, we fought with ASO to have independents, and now it's the case with ITA. That's it..."

Am I imagining or is Prudhomme a bit less sneaky than Lappartient?
