Sorry, that just isn't so. For example, a quick Pubmed search of EPO articles by Carsten Lundby gives 20 papers describing the physiological effects of EPO in a sports environment:

Yes this is old and the article from outdoor magazine has even had a published rebuttal either on CN or Velo.
