Pogacar was let off the hook by Roglic in 2020. He broke an unwritten agreement with his compatriot.
In 2021 it wasn’t a fair fight because Jonas started as a domestique for Roglic and burned his candle.
In 2022 and 23 prime Vingo vanquished Pog.
In 24 Vingo was still recovering from a collapsed lung.
In 25 Pog won fair and square.
Honestly this year could be very close as Jonas is in top shape.
Let's forget Pogacar broke his hand in 2023

And that in 2022 Visma was the main reason for Jonas to cook Pogacar in Granon (or Pogi himself since imo he rode it very poorly tatically).

Maybe Pog rode tactically poorly on Galibier but it was provoked by JV's strength. Anyway, he was never able to hurt Vingo, who was simply stronger in 2022 (UAE and Pog didn't expect that). In 2023 and 2024 they weren't on level terms preparation wise OFC (Vingo's case was more dramatic though).

It doesn't matter, Vingegaard deserved the win. I just think it's incoherent to say Pogacar only won because of reason X and reason y, but Vingegaard won fair and square, without mentioning Pogacar's broken wrist.

Last year, he went to altitude on May 2nd. This year, he is delaying a little bit his altitude training.
I don't know if he is trying not to be overcooked. I believe he was at his peak level in the Dauphiné, last year.

why are people ignoring the elephant in the room which is the introduction of javier sola & his impact on pog? For me it’s irrelevant mentioning a fair fight in this or that tour since pog after sola is a different breed. Vingegaard was just lucky for the 2 tdf wins that he fought against a semi professional who never did strength training, core training, proper intervals & optimized nutrition.

I agree, Ving won because he was better, i only replied because of the "In 2022 and 23 prime Vingo vanquished Pog.". It's not like the difference was massive at all, you swap the roles in that Tour and Ving wouldn't drop Pogacar in most of the stages either.

Tadej was waiting for his girl to finish the Vuelta.

I think Sola is given a bit too much credit here, he shouldn't be seen as some miracle worker whereas San Millan is seen as a fraud (by some)

We know for a fact that Pogacar broke his wrist in LBL 2023 and had bad preparation for the Tour.
We know that he was much better in the classics of 2023 than before and we also know that he was, despite his bad prep, better than in the previous Tours. Some of you might say "but Pogacar didn't follow SM training and prepped for the Tour by himself", fair enough, that still doesn't explain his excellent classics campaign. So whatever it was that Sola was able to improve with his trainings, SM did something right

You are right about his level in 2023 that he was already the best in the world( because he is the best talent ever) & now since sola he isn’t the best in the world he is the greatest of all time.

And for SM, he was a traditional trainer who didn’t even use strength training in his training recommendations & you could see it in uae that every rider training under him was running away from him including almeida which finally made him quit the team this year. Sola saved cycling( for us & neutral fans) that he came to the team before it’s too late. But mentioning sola here isn’t to give him the full credit that he was a miracle worker, it was just that he uses modern training methods like the vismas were using.

I also believe he peaked at Dauphine somehow last year and that he suprised even himself because of that. He will take TdS as a training and nothing more. He will go easy as possible since there is no opponent at all. Not even Lipo. If that goes right and without real fatigue then... he will also do Vuelta this year.

I think Sola just made smart schedule for Pogacar with enough time to rest and since Sola is with him, he is just riding much smarter than before. But sometimes i miss crazy Pogi.

Best talent ever and greatest of all time remain to be seen.
At the moment he has as many gt wins as Gino Bartali who missed ten years of his prime at the tour…

I think it will be an interesting tour this year with Pogi being slightly fatter/bigger at this point in this season than usual.
He should still win but his hell for leather classics season might catch up to him a bit while Jonas is quietly winning the stage races.
There’s only really been one close-ish overall result between these two for all the rivalry talk.
I predict a gap this year of 1minute 45seconds

He isn't and for that reason he was the best coach for Pogacar. Sola himself says it's not that difficult to coach Pogacar, he just does the basic as a coach. He even said genetics is the most important thing and Pogacar is what he is because he is a freak (and also a very hard worker).
What bothers me the most with San Milan is how he didn't want Pogacar to do strenght training, this is just mindblowing, specially from a coach who was supposed to be one of the best in the world.

1'45" is what Pogacar will gain to Vingegaard just on stage 6.
Seixas is the biggest threat, I have no doubts.

If genetics is the most important thing I sometimes wonder do we praise people like Pogacar too much ? Maybe that’s cynical

You would expect him to be smarter as he gets older. it doesn’t need sola for this

Pogacar was flying in the first half. The crash and recovery took a lot out of him.
