I think it will be an interesting tour this year with Pogi being slightly fatter/bigger at this point in this season than usual.
He should still win but his hell for leather classics season might catch up to him a bit while Jonas is quietly winning the stage races.
There’s only really been one close-ish overall result between these two for all the rivalry talk.
I predict a gap this year of 1minute 45seconds

But are we sure Pogacar is really heavier than last year? (when he did similar spring classics campaign, cobbles included). We didn't have his climbing sample post-Liege in 2025. Maybe it will be exactly the same shredding as last year. In his interview a few years ago he already mentioned mass up to 67 kg for cobbles.

Pogacar said he was heavier than usual due to gym training so I believe he was heavier than last year.

Stage 17 is on where Rogla put his foot down and went mano a mano with Pogi.

But don't worry about it too much. Rogla is the only rider that has beaten Pogi in all elements of this game. Trying to deny that will get you nowhere so best to accept that. Pogi bulked up since, so the key here is to do it again at some point in the future, possibly next race already. It's like riding a bike, you don't forget that.

Yeah, Rogla did it. In the past. He hasn't done it ever since then. And as the time goes by, he won't ever do it again.

A Roglic in his prime to a neo-professional Pogacar.
We're not even talking about a Pogacar at the level of professionalism of Seixas; the Pogacar of 2019 was a typical neo-professional.

And how many times, did Pogacar beat Roglic in his own terrain?
I also don't understand why you said Roglic is the only rider to beat Pogacar in "all elements of this game". Where did he beat Pogacar in cobbled classics?

@Coppi-Bartali

Pogi won that Tour edition and nobody else has beaten Pogi in all elements of the game, only Rogla did so far. So basically that neo pro theory is rather moot. When comparing to Rogla he was neo pro and when comparing to everybody else he was an alien.

Yeah.

@canina82

They exchanged a couple of barrages indeed. I meant GT racing, week long stage racing, monument racing ... complete set. So far nobody else only Rogla. And besides cobbles is not road racing.

Yeps, prime Rogla beat up-and-coming Pogi. After his latest win Itzulia 2021, Rogla hasn't been able to replicate it.

Cobbled roads are roads, and they are included in the road racing calendar. Even in GTs you know. You may think they should not be part of it, but that does not exclude them from road racing or road racing considerations.
Because if we can't agree what road racing de facto is right now, what are we even talking about? Clouds?

@Rechtschreibfehler

Even on cobbles Rogla and Pogi raced shoulder to shoulder in the past, Rogla has no issues with cobbles. This discussion is now like but yeah, Pogi didn't jump from Bloudkova velikanka. So. Anyway, until that changes and so far Rogla is the only one, best to accept that.

@AmRacer

We'll see.

Pogi should jump from Letalnica while Rogla should race Paris Roubaix. Not sure if anyone would survive.

Roglic has issues with normal road, let alone cobbles.

Most of the times, when it was important, other riders crashed Rogla out. Things like Lex Rogla, no risk no glory, that didn't influence much the outcome. Plus Rogla is now one of the most stable riders in the peloton in terms of staying on the bike.

Pogi should jump from Letalnica while Rogla should race Paris Roubaix. Not sure if anyone would survive.

Nah, Rogla has no grudge against Pogi. Best if Pogi continues to do what he does best, Rogla will manage just fine too. He needs Pogi on bike for being able to beat him on the road. Riding mano a mano.

So in your opinion, Roglic is Pogacar's greatest rival?

But on which stage? Never by such a small margin in the GC, right?... unless he loses motivation because the others can't deliver or refuse to take risks

I don't know if he actually believes in what he says.
To be fair with Roglic, he's the only rider who have won a GT, Monument and one-week stage race beating Pogi. Yes, it was ages ago, but it's still something no other rider has done.
