Maybe they're sure Adam Yates can beat Remco. It is true that early season Yates is usually flying.

Based on his performance in Argentina I can easily see Yates win. I don’t even think Remco will finish top 5 in the mountains

I mean, it baffled me immensely as to why he was on the provisional startlist in the first place given they had signed Mr. UAE Tour just last winter. That very inconvenient early season peak because of the sponsors does more harm than good, especially to someone who has ambitions in all three seasons of the calendar.

It’s weird that he isn’t riding UAE tour, it’s the tournament of his employer. An employer that’s all about prestige and he is their most important rider. I can only imagine him skipping this if they are very sure he isn’t able to win because of his issues during the winter.

Or it could be that the rider who has won two Tours and three monuments in the space of three seasons has a small say in his programme.

As for Pogacar's schedule; Yeah, I definitely don't see any issue with him not doing the UAE Tour. Come one... because he's the biggest star on a team that happens to be sponsored by the UAE he should be contractually obliged to ride the UAE Tour? It doesn't make sense.

UAE will also bring McNulty and Soler as well, apart from Yates. Any one of them could win the two climbs.

At Flanders we will have Pogacar vs MVDP vs Alaphilippe and some jumbo strong riders . Should be very good

Yeah I agree that last year a lot of stars aligned for Pogacar to actually win de Ronde. It's gonna be an uphill battle for him.

I still think he has as good a shot as any of the big guns, or at least to come to the sprint with them. Last year’s tactics were a disaster but his sprints at the end of long attritive stages are generally on par with anyone.

He was also sick and might be a little behind where he would want to be, so skipping a longer travel makes sense.

What form? WVA is the only good rider he beat (in a sprint), the rest of the CX guys are nobodies compared to those 2. The only conclusion I would make is that his back issue seems okay for the moment.
