MVDP weighs much less, check his face, it's like Evenepoel at Dauphine and at TDF difference. He also doesn't have a long peak from WC CX -> Roubaix behind his belt now, he's fresher.

Obviously he won't be able to follow when Pogacar goes, but I don't see Pogacar ride away that easily from everyone and finish solo. So if he's joined by others, and the tempo is gone, MVDP is one of the first ones to come back. He was 3rd at LBL for a reason, and he's in better form and physique now.

The race might have 4500 altitude meters, but the route isn't as difficult as people assume at the moment.

I give MVDP a chance of riding for the podium like in LBL this year where he got dropped by the chasers but group 2 dynamics allowed him to claw his way back then sprint well at the end.

Less than a 0.0.1% chance for me that he contests the final 200 metres in contention for the win against Pogacar.

As if Roglic could do anything. its not exactly science he will just ride away from everyone while noone beeing able to push the watts and follow - if they try they blow up very fast thats jsut what weve seen WHOLE YEAR, Liege, Giro, Tour literally everyone who tries to follow him blow up!

Thing is even if they're formally both leaders and 'let the road decide' it's gonna play out that Pogacar is G1 and Roglic is G2.

Problem only arises if Roglic in his role has the role of speculative attacker and Pogacar has to protect Roglic' move. Because that is cycling strategy 101 and it should never apply here, unless specifically Roglic is ahead alone or with some proven non winner like Wilco Kelderman.

It's pretty fashionable these days to say "I have a lot of room for improvement, I'm not that serious". I call BS on that. Pogi right now is on at least as "serious" a training programme as Vingegaard. Just because he has a happy-go-lucky image doesn't mean he doesn't train at least as hard. And this year, by all means his programme was simply better because he wasn't in the hospital two months before the Tour.

I think they realized at UAE they needed a change from the previous years. They've made that change, and it's certainly paid off, but any improvements they can still make will be fairly marginal. And actually I think for some reason Visma are kind of overrating Vingegaard's performance in this year's Tour, like he was somehow at his best ever. How is that even possible given the lack of time he had to properly prepare. He may have hit some high numbers but he wasn't consistently at his best. No way.
