Threaten? For gods sake🤧 if we had doubts about what mou said about the strength training he started this year pog himself said it on peter attia's podcast
1, off the bike strength training only in 2024
2, core strength training only in 2024
3, proper heat training only in 2024
And on top of that he started to take care of his nutrition this year. Jonas vingegaard has been doing all this since 2019 thanks to vismas super professionalism and his improvements as a result were massive. Now if i just follow logic, the difference in level between them would be like leagues in the next 5 years

Pogacar will be #1 favourite for the Tour in 2025 but Vingo will be the only other candidate for victory IMO. It was very impressive how he rode the last Tour despite that terrible crash. A perfectly prepared Vingo should still be a big rival on the french cols.

Being called a candidate and actually being it is a different mater. I'm not in his head but i actually think he is considering doing the giro then tour coz if he doesn't do the giro he might end empty handed with pog also doing the vuelta

(Some ppl overrate it simple cause he won in 23 and forget that year Roglic woulda beaten Pogacar too and 22 he beat himself more than anything) Agree he is the closest candidate - for now. But from that to actually beeing a real threat is a different mater completely as you say and just a fools hope in reality I think. Numbers dont add up in the slightest.

And that he will be better and improve more maybe it remains a maybe and speculation but sure can happen for sure and lets go with that for the suspense part but the gap is still so insane in pure FTP mesasures nothing like weve seen previous years while he still rode hurt it was close in FTP he just bonked eventually, this here now well yeah its different galaxies. And whats not to say Pogacar stop improving, on the contrary its very very likely.

It's a goose chase in reality and he wont be beaten unless he somewhat isnt 100% which very well can happen fast in cycling- if this is the new level, its just ridiculous is what it is if you look under the hood of his performances this year its even more impressive than the results almost which is hard to believe.

Im also curious about Evenepoels improvements, the talent is undeniable and gonne be interesting to follow that progression hopefully it is as this year then were talking and someone new will eventually also burst into the scene, what youngsters do people rate the most in regards to GC possebilities in a few years?(while granted thats hard to say in cycling at a young age)

It was one year ago this time the forum was still riled up about the juggernaut jumbo visma whose only competition was from within. This hot debate would go into December (and beyond) when it was announced Pogi would to ride the giro (to avoid coming up empty again for a GT win)

We were so innocent in this thread.

But the ghost of Christmas future @mou knew. Pogis team was stirring in the darkest days of winter. Sending mou forth to warn us legends nicely, things were about to profoundly change in the cycling landscape.

Can't wait for the first duel between Pogi and Vingo.
And Pogi in Flanders against MVP, incredible.

He really called it down to the wire didnt he. Funny to think about now that weve seen Pogacar do what he has in that fashion which is rather still almost unbelivable after having watched it.

I was there watching on that mountain that day. Beatiful. I really recommend anyone if you consider going to a race to watch a race in Italy, it is something else, pashion, electric.

Me too. I combined hiking in the Biellese Alps with watching the race on that day. I was about 2 km from the Oropa finish and witnessed the first solo ride of his legendary Giro+Tour+WC triple.

OK, I got it. Bulk up during the winter with weights and sprint training. Take a tired MVDP to the line at MSR and beat him. Then do PR.
Valid point! Idk if he should bulk up but mvdps chances at MSR massively depend on philipsens presence in the race otherwise its a done deal for pogi. If pogi opens the race from cipressa and mvdp somehow hang on to him then he will work with him afterwards as philipsen isn't in the race which then backfires & gets him dropped by pog on poggio. Idk but the way i saw pog at the worlds, he could sustain 7w/kg for an hour and half😬

@mou is super bullish on pogi again for the giro in 2025. Thinks it’s the best prep and path for pogi for the tour.
Can we take a moment and assume @mou has been shut off from internal details? He not exactly the best spokesperson lol. It’ll be interesting to see if he can again have a predictive insight into pogis calendar before everyone else. So far he’s indicated strade, suggestive of Flanders, keeps going on with the giro, less indicative of the vuelta, I think we all know pogi will target worlds and Lombardia again.

I don't believe Pogi will race the Giro. I think he wants to race Flanders again

That's impossible.
