Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

"I would have liked to have ridden the Strade Bianche. Sand and riding uphill, two things I was very good at. How many times would I have won that race? With me, Merckx or Maertens, Pogacar would never have ridden 90 kilometres alone in front."

He seems pretty emotional about not having been able to race SB.

I think that there are multiple media accounts that have the Pogacar household able to purge anger and not holding a grudge. They move on.
Celebrating is fairly personal and don't know if there is a right or wrong way to do it.
What can be established is that winners make the rules, winners write history, so if someone doesn't agree with the winner's acts of celebrating, the solution is to win and do something different.
If I had to guess we will see bicycle raised to the sky for a while.
I personally enjoy that Pogacar margins have given him time for zipping up jersey and getting team and sponsors great visibility!!

I can't imagine what he will feel when Pogacar surpass him in the all time monument winners.

I think its been established that Roger De Vlaeminck is outspoken and a bit of a larrikin (Australian term). But his races were won in the "farming" era (ie, Eddy beat farmers). The sport of cycling has moved on leaps and bounds since 1976. More scientific, more professional, more money etc. No comparison. So to claim Pog had no competition is laughable. And Pog wins grand tours. De Vlaeminck was a classics rider a bit like Chancellara. After sticking his neck out he will be sweating as Pog keeps ticking off more wins and monuments, along with the obligatory Grand Tour titles which were beyond De Vlaeminck's capability. Also in grand Tours outside the Giro De Vlaeminck didn't win much - a single stage win in the 1970 Tour.

It is like saying Joe Davis is the GOAT of snooker. PR and RVV were (almost) only disputed by belgians. It was almost like a Belgian championship.

How can raising ur bike on the finish line be related to arrogance? or How can remcos historic pose at the finish in the Olympics be considered arrogance or can be related to a bad thing? De vlaemink is just pogs hater & if remco was the most dominant one he wouldn't say that cause he is belgian.
Yes he would and he also literally did.

In the original Flemish interview he was actually criticizing Remco's style of celebration. I haven't read the English version where they apparently made it out to be criticism of Pog but Roger is just as critical about Belgian riders and quite possibly even more.

Can't believe they will force Pog to ride this ugly bike.
