TDF 2014 - Tips for Travel

Guys,
Hope you don't mind me posting this as a first post.
I am looking to travel across from UK to France to see the TDF on the 8th, 9th & 10th.
Looking at the route I was think if I base myself around Lens I am pretty much close to seeing all three stages.
I will be travelling by Car so am pretty mobile in terms of being able to get around.
The other point is Mrs Hammerddh is coming along (more for the break as she is not a massive cycling fan) so she will be looking for other things to do as well.

What do you guys think to using Lens as a base. Any other ideas as to better places than that ?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I don't know much this part of France, but Lens seems a good option. There is a big great museum that opened last year in Lens, "Le Louvre Lens" (it is a part of Paris Louvre museum), you should take a look at it.

Hi H

Not to soon to book accomodation in Mulhouse if you are planning to see the finish/start there. Maybe see you as I'll be there:) Might be a bit too much for Mrs H if she is not a cycling fan but would recommend getting a good spot for the sign in at the start from Mulhouse. Did it this year at Cagnes Sur Mer and it was very interesting. Cav loved, Contador booed, Andy joking and laughing, Kloden the Patriach holding court and the size of the German sprinters:eek:
