They were unpopular when Roglic pressed with his accusations about Wright when he was right. Now with going after the fan that caused the crash, they might make themselves even more unpopular. Richard Plugge sure does not know how to make friends among the masses

Every team that wins a lot becomes unpopular (among a part of the cycling fanbase), that's just how it goes. I agree Richard Plugge is not the best when it comes to PR, even though his roots are actually in journalism, but you can't deny that he has done a great job in turning this team from the worst (2015) into the best team in the Worldtour.

Given that Roglič and Vingegård are both riding the Vuelta, I think its quite likely that Jumbo wins all three Grand Tours this season (unless Ayuso or Remco go thermonuclear).

Although it makes sense for Vingegård to ride the Vuelta this year, I also think that the pressure of finding a new sponsor also a played a role on the decision. Just hope Kuss doesn't ride it and gets the rest he deserves.

Even though sponsors mostly care about the Tour, winning the three Grand Tours in the same season its an impressive feat and quite marketable too.

I have said in this thread and elsewhere that I don't necessarily like Plugge. He was a terrible journalist, and communicatively he's still quite weak. In this case, and in the case of the Fred Wright saga, it's just incredibly dumb and bad PR... certainly from a former journalist. But this doesn't mean he's wrong...

And in cycling, basically all major team managers are giant douches. Apparently that's a job requirement. That's why they can never get anything done together, in terms of standing up against ASO or the UCI.

yeah, they also have a rather international group of riders, so one that serves a more global market makes sense as well. Don't know if LEGO has the interest though, maybe they can come up with some cool cycling related sets.

poor guy, though he seems to like it. I hope(and think) they monitor him very closely leading up to the start, they have enough strong riders without two GT's in their legs to turn up with a decent team.
