Jumbo have decent experiences with converted winter athletes.

That said, I wonder if the guy would fit well into a cycling team cause he's notorious for doing everything his own way.
Yes, but developing someone with no prior cycling experience is different. Learning how to race in the bunch will also take some time.
I guess the lower body muscles used in speedskating are pretty similar to xc skiing skating, so closer to cycling than running, at least that's something.

The guy is known for an insane cycling training load. Also ran some ultramarathons.

Basically Jumbo and EF are already on him inviting him to do the cycling tests while hes mostly pondering his future.

Judging by what I read about him, hed fit into EF much better I think

Let's hope they take him in and make him successful (I was fooled on the previous page of course and thought it was Mathieu there was talk of). Then maybe he writes a manifesto like he has done for speed skating and we'll all be able to become great cycling champions by learning his secrets. I haven't yet read it myself but have heard it mentioned a couple of times on The Cycling Podcast (they didn't talk about him as a potential cyclist, though, just to make matters completely random).

Thanks, i didn't know that he trains a ton on his bike. My speed skating knowledge is pretty small, I used to have a gf from Klobenstein a few years ago and watched a race with her, but that's about it.
Still, he'll have to learn how to ride in a big bunch, it's a bit like turning an IP track specialist with no road racing experience into a roadie.

I gave it a short look and his training is crazy. 5 days in a row, WE off. During the aerobic phase of his training (in the summer) he did 33 hours weekly on his bike, so 3 seven hour rides and 2 six hour rides at low intensity just to built an aerobic base.

Yup, he has done a lot of cycling. Like in his prep before the Olympics he stayed in a small village in the Alps. He would skate before noon and ride his bike in the Alps for a 3-4 hour ride in the after noon.

I remember last summer (I think) he had a project about riding through most of Sweden on his bike. I think he ended up just riding for a few days because he got sick or got saddle sores. I dont remember.

There was an article last week after his final race saying that it was a dutch cycling team that had made inquiries. But Van Der Poel was kind of nonchalant about it because he said "I think it was a dutch team".

He is kind of opinionated and got very strong beliefs. Both in himself and things he stands for. Like he gifted one of his gold medals to raise awareness for an author and publisher that is in prisoned in China. Accused of being a spy.

He is a real character. Another career as an elite athlete seemed pretty far away according to him and that type of life, but he also quit skating like three times and always came back each time until now presumably. That this was his final time and that he would finally quit after achieving everything he wanted.

It has seemed like he really has no idea what he is gonna do, so who knows.

Some unofficial talks in local media that Jan Tratnik might be on JV radar.
As far as I know he's been on JV radar for a while. ;) I really hope we are going to see him in yellow and black.

Or, even better:
Vingegaard needs to teach Roglic a really thick North-Jutlandic dialect! Then even if Bjerg is still around to help Pogacar, he'll be just as lost.
Roglic' philosophy of "why not eh" is so strong he doesn't even need to understand Vingegaards plan but he will simply telepathically understand it because he is in 100% of the time every time.

What do they want? Trying to win TdF with Kruijswijk and Dumoulin and some 6 useless dutch riders? Might have worked in 18, but..
Mostly just buy Van der Poel.

Which is funny cause Van der Poel lived almost all his life in Belgium and his Flemish accent imo is stronger than Van Aerts. Also extra bonus points for completely ignoring the devlopment team bringing Olav Kooij through the ranks.

Otherwise the bad ones seem to really prefer a yolo squad with washed up Poels caliber stage hunters over a Dutch team trying to actually win the Tour.

Also Tratnik totally has a totally Dutch first name and if we're drunk enough we can easily enough just read 'Tankink'

Last year some of them had a total meltdown because Tolhoek left for Trek, it was like prime Dumo left the team. Not to mention that fella Kerckhofs or whatever likes to flame it with his occasional analyses because clicks and comments, plus there is Boogerd who always repeats how there is no Dutch identity in the team and he rather looks for MvdP in races than TJV... I mean there are some who even think that Bouwman should get a GT leadership after his Giro 12th place last year being half an hour down... so yeah if Tratnik really joins and replaces someone like Roosen... Google translate and popcorn are ready
