Team WIGGINS

Just read about this today. I guess this is a way for him to be a team leader again and pick his focus? The team is him and Andy Tennant, Owain Doull, Mark Christian, Jon Dibben, Steven Burke, Daniel Patten, Mike Thompson and Iain Paton.

Never heard of any of the others, not that I follow up and coming riders closely.

What about this team? Do y'all know more about it? Other thoughts?

Seems good to me, but wow, really couldn't exist with Froome, eh? Not sure I'm buying the giving back and hour record focus as prime drivers, but would love to hear what those more in the know have to say.

For the GB Endurance track squad it's a fantastic idea to group everyone in a Team like this towards Rio 2016. Quite unique and never been done before on a pro level like this anyway.

I would have thought Clancy is an obvious choice too, but assuming he's tied up with Condor this season so maybe will come across for next season?

Not sure on Mike Thompson and Iain Paton, but both clearly switching to road looking at how much road cycling they've both been doing recently.

Even by Continental (Div 3) standards this is a weak road squad both in performance terms and numbers of riders. Without the addition of the 2 MTB lads they only have 6 riders which may create problems accessing races where 6 riders must take the start. It means the whole squad riding every race all season...clearly unrealistic as Steve Burke's accident shows.

The team is being supplemented with riders from the Academy.

Yes, which presumably screws up Keith Lambert's plans for those lads as every time one of the trackies doesn't fancy a race he will have to loan one or more of his lads. Difficult to plan when you do not know who you have available from week to week. Looks messy to me.

Owain Doull post-2016 could be an interesting prospect. Last year he came second in the u23 tour of Flanders, second in u23 national TT champs, but more importantly, won the 2.2 Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux - previous winners: Mathew Hayman, Stijn Devolder, Andrey Kashechkin, Lars Boom, Tom Dumoulin and Bob Jungels.

Best of luck to the lads next week in
their debut at the Tour of Normandy.

Things turned out well for last years
winner, Mr. Stefan Kung, who went on
to win the 2015 World Pursuit title. I
hope something similar happens for
our boys, but at the Olympics and in
the team pursuit. :)

It'll be harder for him to pull a flu excuse for Tour of Yorkshire this year:

Wiggins will take time out from his Olympic track preparations to ride in the Tour de Yorkshire.

He may as well ride a sportive such will be his visibility.

He will still be one of the most viewed riders on TV no matter what he does, which will obviously be riding at the back for most of the race, although last year he was visible in leading out Doull near the final few K's. Think that was Tour of Britain though.

That was ToB.

Last years TDY It was a total Wiggins w@nkfest from Matt Stephens saying he was going to do something big one of the days. Going on and on and on about how he was such a student on the history of the sport just because he had some cotton gloves on. Then waiting for this 'big day' he did JACK.

i find the human Wiggins disgusting. With a cult of self peronality equaling Kim Jong Un

He doesn't give a rats ass about developing new riders, he and Vino the only 2 people naming teams after them

He is so lame that would do anything to stay relevant and his name to be in the face of UK public

and now planning to do a "WIGGINS" woman development team , i mean lol , he is a misogin after all

Lots of accusation there: any evidence to provide in support of it?
