I was betting for Arndt to join Bora, but Denz makes sense as well. Arndt I think would have more potential for his own results in stage races and semi-classics, but Denz should be the better climber at this stage in his career which is of course nice to have if you build a GC oriented squad.
There was clearly the need to add a road captain/workhorse to the team and also this gives the additional benefit of bringing in a german-speaker as well.
I thin long term he could be an option to be a general building block of their Giro squad. Maybe last year is the last year for Benedetti and Gamper could be a great option to follow Hindley to the Tour.

My thought was precisely the same. They know that, even with De Lie on fire, it is difficult to gather enough points to reach the WT places. Movistar and BEX will be fine if Mas and Yates keep themselves in their Vuelta GC places. Maybe they are still hoping on EF to keep their point drought...

Denz is also a great descender, he can also be used to put pressure on other teams by leading the bunch into a technical descent.

They were already known at the beginning of July tho. I just simply don't think a lot of great prospects want to sign with a team that might become PCT. Eenkhoorn is basically the best they can get. Agreed that those signings are meeh tho. Livyns is a bit overrated in Belgium, Paesschens is decent for a team like Bingoal but I have no idea what he would do for Lotto apart from maybe riding at the front of the peloton for someone in some smaller races. The thing is that they miss riders for a different type of race, they already have plenty of riders for Belgian races.
Brodie Chapman chose the worst team in the women's peleton for her upcoming transfer - She will be starved of opportunities and even SD Worx would have been a better option - I liken this move to Ellisonde moving to Sky.
According to Ralph Denk Emil Herzog will join Hagens Berman Axeon next year but has something like a precontract with Bora where he is able to join in 1-2 years.

In the german media they mentioned that thje the deal with Merchx was finalised before Bora announced their cooperation with the development teams in Austria and Germany. Riders are riding for those teams but have contracts with Bora already in the books.
I really like the concept as this will be a boost for the german and austrian rider scene. The development was really lacking in the last 4-5 years after Bora was able to develop world class talent through their team in the years earlier (Buchmann, Konrad, Ackermann, Großschartner). It was also mentioned that the German team (Lotto-kernhaus) will be more sprinter and classics focused & the austrian team will be on a more climber friendly schedule. It's also a smart investment because you have to lock the big talent in early as seen with van Aert, Pogacar, Ayuso and Evenepoel in the last years.
It also gives the world tour team the chance to fill the squad in the position 25-30 with better riders that can have a greater impact on the team than some of their devo objects in the last few years. It will be interesting who gets now signed there are still some open spots for 2023.

Nothing to my knowledge. So I don't think this is because they have a deal but they want to publish it at a certain day. My reading from the public comments of Palzer would be that he wants to continue cycling (main goal riding the Giro). So therefore I think it comes down to Bora making a decision which will also consider his value for the brand. My guess they will keep him (there are not that many good transfer targets on the market anyway). But on the other hand he is still very raw at the moment and hardly a WT level rider imo. The watts are there, but as we could see in the Deutschland Tour the team couldn't get any value out of him riding there. If they are serious about contending in a GT there is no reason bringing him to the Giro and possibly leaving someone like Denz, Zwiehoff or Aleotti at home.
Yes I agree to most of your statement. Nevertheless Algavre and Catalunya was quite Good in my opinion. He was a valuable Team Member and Helper für Higuita there (last One of the Team in some stages). But I agree Rest of the season is underwhelming so far... hope he gets another chance next year though

I don't know man, Vanhoucke is someone that needs a kick in the ass. His mental is shiit, he doesn't train like he should, doesn't seem to care anymore, etc. That's bad in a loose team like Lotto. Maybe DSM can actually get him to work again. He's pretty talented after all. If he had the same working mentality as less talented riders like Cras and Moniquet he would actually be good. It's a 50-50 but staying with Lotto wouldn't have been good for either party and I don't think he had that many offers from "stricter" teams.

Bardet also needed a strict team, back at AG2R he didn't train a lot on his TT-bike because he doesn't like riding on it.
For this kind of riders and young riders who started cycling really late and lead lots of guidance it's actually not the worst team.
coaches aren't allowed to go to Training camps. WTF team does that?
