Wondering if the idea was that as Ineos had supposedly got a pre-contract agreement with Foss and Movistar had supposedly got a pre-contract agreement with Rodríguez, Ineos were trying to use that as a means to play swapsies or something or as compensation for Movistar for breaking their pre-contract to keep Carlos, or if, given his money move to Ineos had broken down, Foss' agent offered him to Movistar as an alternative and they said no thanks, given Foss is older, less proven, two and a half years removed from his best showings and not from the team's primary market. You're right. They say negotiations are advanced, but not "a done deal". They also hint Movistar refused to sign Foss.
Surprised about it. I could not see him in other team outside the Spanish PCT.
I don't understand the move for INEOS at all. He has done almost nothing since 2019, and has done significantly less this year. Movistar hasn't even let him ride the Vuelta since COVID. Does he have characteristics that don't show up in the results that would cause a team to value him? All I remember for is running into the house during the Giro. You're right. Nico perfectly embodies the Astana downfall. Get ready to write down a lot of DNFs. Nepotism is a weird thing, but it is especially strange to just hand out a contract to trash when you are in a relegation battle like Astana is.VINO!!!
(not a mid-season transfer)

Nicolas Vinokurov and Harold Martin Lopez step into the WorldTour - Astana - Qazaqstan
Two riders of Astana Qazaqstan Development Team, Nicolas Vinokurov (Kazakhstan,21) and Harold Martin Lopez (Ecuador, 22) are going to make a big step forward, joining the UCI WorldTour together with Astana Qazaqstan Team. Both riders signed a two-year deal with […]www.astana-qazaqstan.com

This is like picking between trash and garbage.I suppose Nico is the "better twin".
I suppose Nico is the "better twin".
That's part of what I meant by "creative". Riders who wouldn't be able to command a big salary. They probably got him fairly cheap too.
I would be surprised if that's even a battle for Astana.
They've barely scored 60% of the points that the 18th team has so far and I think their roster is way weaker than any team inside top18 right now, I can't see a single rider that would be expected to score big all season for them. Not a sign of any big signings for 2024 either. They may have given up already. They've been pretty much a PRT level team for a while now.
That being said, every team has a place for a few riders that aren't going to contribute very much, it has minimal bearing on the UCI rankings what your 29th or 30th best rider does.
Frankly they just should've let Yana Seel sell the team then.I wouldn't even call them part of the battle anymore imo. There's just no chance they make top 18. It's pretty much a joke that they still have that WT license.
must mean IPT is almost full then. Woods is missing on PCS (under contract till the end of 2025), and Einhorn staying should normally be a given as well.
According to Directvelo, also Floris van Tricht will join the team:

So that would bring them up to 28, and I would think Boivin, Goldstein or Berwick are legitimate contenders to stay as well. Or even Pozzovivo?
Somehow this feels just quite right. A mediocre and (probably) overpaid rider to a crap team.

in local media, Reynders said that he is in talks with four teams, but nothing certain yet. So sounded more like he is leaving. Ben Hermans would also like to do another year, but has no offers yet.Surprised that, apparently, Reynders only signed for one year.
Goldstein, Berwick or Reynders could indeed complete the squad.
