Seems to be enjoying his off season, sure I saw him and Mrs E in the pits, possibly with Alpine, at this weekends Qatar F1 GP.
Yes, he was invited by the Alpine team.

Also, at the risk of starting a new Fatco/Slimco endless discussion, I have a feeling that he's looking leaner/sharper this offseason than during previous offseasons. Maybe he's trying to keep his climbing weight during the whole year with fewer fluctuations. Or maybe it's just the haircut and my eyes are deceiving me.

Its soon Christmas, he’ll add the needed kilos there :tearsofjoy:

I agree that he looks leaner than normally during offseason. It'll be interesting to see how he looks during PN/TA. If he really wanted to focus more on 1-week and GT racing, he should be closer to his TDF weight there too.

For those interested, this week a new book has been published about Remco Evenepoel named Full Gas.

Remco Evenepoel goes full gas. He rode a unique record of achievement in just a few years. He became world champion several times and won classics and tours including the Vuelta. In 2024 he came third in his first Tour, two times Olympic champion and world champion time trial.

In this book Filip Osselaer talks to Remco, his great love Oumi, parents, friends, trainers and specialists about what drives him. They are moving, profound stories full of tension, sadness, joy, drama, joy, success.

Got the same impression. He's turning 25, i guess he got rid of the baby fat.

He's been brought to the hospital this morning after a crash during training. No more information yet. Doesn't seem severe at first sight, but a fracture is always possible.

Edit: apparently he collided with a car of the national postal service, which are famous for not always following traffic rules with care.

For some reason I can't include the picture, so here it is.

Would you call an ambulance if it wasn't severe? If he was fine he would start riding further along, which wasn't possible. So I wouldn't be surprised if it's his collarbone.

First of all, good to hear that is wasn't worse.
2nd, now I expect an Ulle style bulking period over the holidays.
Unfortunately I would sort of expect the same. It's a bummer because I think Remco was getting serious about shedding some weight, but over the holidays it's hard enough not to gain a few pounds anyway. But with an injury... at least it appears to not be a serious one, so hopefully he can at least hop on the trainer asap.

Huh... this setback when his season is starting. Probably 5 weeks without proper outside training and a few kilos heavier due to Christmas. It will be a tough challenge to be in peak shape for Ardennes but he can do it.
I already stated this a lot of times, some people are more worried about safety in road races (when more than 90% of crashes are caused by human error) but what is more important is clearly how many reckless drivers we have outside hiting cyclists (pro or not).

Almost zero people will look before opening a car door. Sometimes you can’t give enough room and you takes your chances.

Gotta protect yourself as a cyclist, not hope people are expecting you out there.
I saw an accident like this with my own eyes... I was walking on a sidewalk and a car driver opened his door without checking first and a cyclist rammed right into the door and flipped over onto the street. It was horrifying how the cyclist was just writhing in pain... we didn't have cellphones back then, so I had to go find a phone so I could call an ambulance.

It's unfortunate you can't just ride in peace and quiet minding your own business, but as cyclists we always have to be vigilant when around cars.
