No one (this time) said Remco would win the Tour if there were XX amount of TT kilometers in the Tour.

It's very simple that long TTs would be to Remcos benefit even if it only means another stage win and a 5th in GC instead of 7th or something like that. Everyone knows that as long as Pogacar is around the amount of flat TT vs mountain stages has to be completely surreal for Remco to have a chance to win the whole thing.

but Remco in 2024 TDF shape vs this Vingo would likely have a 3-4 minute lead now in the giro

Still such a shame he wasn't able to ride MSR due to the snow. Personally I rather had him ride Giro + TDF
IIRR the snow had nothing to do with it. They (felt like they) had to choose between Catalunya or MSR and they chose to do Catalunya this year. They never planned to do MSR.

They simply mentioned that the snow made it practically impossible to get to MSR if they wanted to do a last minute change but it didn't sound like that was the plan at all.

Ah okay, I thought they wanted to do both. Which in my opinion was still possible. Would've been easier logistically to do MSR and Catalunya 2 days later than going from Sofia to Napels

Remco's problem was mentioned by Lefevere as early as in 2019 when he called him "fat" and since then it's never been completely resolved. I think it's more or less what he said recently: that he has tendency to easily gain weight. It seems that keeping very low mass all year long is more stressful for him. Both of his teams (SQS and RBH) realized it and I think they agreed that he can operate above his optimal GT weight most of the year. Why? Because he's a great TT-ist and one-day racer also when he's 3-4 kilos heavier.
He also seems to have a tendency to get a "bad day" or a "bad moment," even when his form is supposedly good. And this isn't just limited to stage races—you can see this happen in one-day races as well. Maybe in 2024, he was just lucky to avoid having one of those off-moments.

I don’t think Tony Adams’ strength was his issue, especially at celebratory functions, though if Remco really is a man of faith then the drink shouldn’t be a problem.

Yeah, I guess Remco is more of a Glenn Hoddle like figure, although Hoddle stayed in Monaco for longer.

Article on Domestique with Zak Dempster on the revised calendar of Evenepoel.
  • Evenepoel will go more than two months without active racing leading up to the Grand Départ on July 4, though he may still ride the Belgian Championships.
  • Team sports chief Zak Dempster noted that this decision mirrors Evenepoel's successful build-up to his 2022 Vuelta a España victory, where he also skipped heavy stage-racing ahead of the event.
  • Skipping the Dauphiné allows Evenepoel to train in a more controlled and calm environment rather than getting over-exerted by intense racing conditions.
  • Evenepoel is currently training at altitude in Sierra Nevada for three weeks, which will be the first of two separate altitude camps designed to get him in peak condition.
  • The team expressed total faith in him, pointing to his strong early-season wins at Amstel Gold and Valenciana as proof of his high level.

Vuelta 2022 was still one of his best performances, so if they can replicate that with a little extra he is able to do better than in 2024. Doesn't necessarily mean he will end up on the podium, but the fight for it will be more exciting this year.

Some very good damage control being done by Zak Dempster.
It's still obvious they hit the panic button on Remco . He'd be doing the Dauphiné if the initial plan had gone well.
But if the panic button works, we can't complain.
