Yeah the team that has everything prepared in detail is going to wing the preparation of their best shot at finishing on the TDF podiumSounds like they're winging it to me.
Pretty much.Yeah the team that has everything prepared in detail is going to wing the preparation of their best shot at finishing on the TDF podium
They're saying he raced too much this spring. Which is true, he was at a high level in Valencia, and still finished 3rd in Liege. He also has by far the most racedays from all GT riders.Pretty much.
The schedule is incoherent, the training is at odds with the cited goals, they're talking about overracing in UAE Tour and they're citing bloody Valenciana as evidence of TdF level.
That is not preparing in detail, that is just pure PR bs.
The only thing that would somewhat explain it is Evenepoel goes off the rails the moment he is off training by himself. Which would be hilarious in and of itself from a 8th season World Tour pro
“He’ll be in the team environment for around five or six weeks in total, including the altitude blocks.”
He has the same as Lipowitz, who was getting better every race. But no monuments for Lipo, although also no UAE flat stages for Lipo. They're saying he raced too much this spring. those who decided his program :They're saying he raced too much this spring. Which is true, he was at a high level in Valencia, and still finished 3rd in Liege. He also has by far the most racedays from all GT riders.
so it was prepared in detail for him to be over raced and his program changedthe team that has everything prepared in detail
Lipowitz focused on a single thing. Stage races. Lipowitz also didn’t win a single race. Point being that Evenepoel might have started his season at too hotHe has the same as Lipowitz, who was getting better every race. But no monuments for Lipo, although also no UAE flat stages for Lipo.
They expected he could manage more?those who decided his program :

Comedy gold. The team expressed total faith in him, pointing to his strong early-season wins at Amstel Gold and Valenciana as proof of his high level.
I believe Remco will finish 5th or 6th in the upcoming Tour de FranceComedy gold.
He will look good in the Belgian tricolor though
"He may still ride the Belgian Championships." was my favourite part
Second best shot at finishing on the podium.Yeah the team that has everything prepared in detail is going to wing the preparation of their best shot at finishing on the TDF podium
Don’t think he’ll race it this year or win it. It’s completely flat. Mooie flat then when he actually won the jerseyComedy gold.
He will look good in the Belgian tricolor though
Doubt it. Think he has a bigger chance then LipoSecond best shot at finishing on the podium.

I think it depends a bit on how the race unfolds. How close will everyone be to each other. Is Vingegaard still a distant 2nd behind Pogacar, and is Seixas in 3 weeks of racing also a distant 3rd to Vingegaard, and closer to Lipowitz/Evenepoel. Because then we get a battle for third, and Seixas can be attacked by 2 riders. One could argue Remco's peak level is higher but Lipo's consistency is important too (plus at Romandie he actually showed a really high level). I'm wondering how likely BORA's podium is. Unfortunately the rise of Seixas makes it much less likely than before.
Vermeersch and Van Dijke too. After this altitude camp at Sierra Nevada, he's going to Calpe/Belgium, and then back to altitude Isola 2000. Where he will also do more recons of TDF stages.Who is up with him at Sierra Nevada? Lipo, Martinez, Tratnik, Cattaneo, van Gils?
I think Evenepoel and Lipo will stay together for this three weeks. I don't know where he will go to altitude after that. I think Lipo will stay at altitide in Kühtai after Slovenia with his girlfriend.
People in his entourage have been saying he's doing it this year, and next year. If he didn't close the gap, or at least got much closer to the winner of TDF they'll let it go.This is pretty much a defining tdf for Evenepoel. It's a lot of "sacrifice" (within all reason since he's paid millions to do this job etc.) to simply fight for a Tour podium. I'd not be surprised if a few repeats of this strict training process with samey outcomes could result in a demoralization of the rider. These guys aren't cyborgs (yet).
I can't imagine Evenepoel at 30 doing the whole two months as a monk malarky just for a top 5 in July.
