Where to begin...

"The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognise they need to have events in the Olympic programme that bring kids into sport," said McQuaid.
If true, just what the hell does that say about the state of the Olympics overall? And what does that say about Paddy's confidence in the very sport that he's currently in charge of?

It sounds to me like McQuack is afraid of becoming irrelevant.

Yeesh, why would an organization like the UCI lobby on behalf of skateboarding???

The only reason I can think of is cash.

I would imagine because of the links between it and BMX freestyle (which the UCI also want in the Olympics). The UCI have a place at the Olympic table so are lobbying on skateboarding's behalf for their mutual benefit.

The skate board park is just right for UCI it is the home of vandals drug pushers and violence in youth so will Paddy clean it up I hope so then we will have more police to chase the local motorist and make our roads safer. MAYBE.

I don't know. He was telling something about wheels.
I consider and respect skateboarding as a hard and difficult sport - but it makes no sense to add it to UCI.
One can only wonder

Classic:

Jonathan Vaughters, the head of the AIGCP (Association International des Groupes Cyclistes Professionels) was not at the meeting but had a bitter email exchange with McQuaid during the day.

In an email seen by Cyclingnews, McQuaid wrote to Vaughters:

"I have had enough of this High Moral Ground from you and I am refraining myself from writing exactly what I am thinking.

"Enough to inform you that when I have finished with the teams today you will have plenty to "reflect" on and communication will be the furthest thing from your mind!!”

Wow, McQuaid really was mentored by Verbruggen in the fine art of drafting emails. The second sentence doesn't even make sense.

They both make Pat money.

Seriously, the guy is out of ideas for cycling? Or, maybe he's getting ready to cut and run because some other bit of incriminating news is going to break?

If Hein doesn't get swept up in enough scandal to eject him from the Olympics machine, then I think Vaughters has to be at the top of his Pat replacement list. Why? Vaughters is American and the UCI hasn't quit trying to grow their franchise in the U.S. Vaughters is a more refined Pat. Let Vaughters be the figurative head of the UCI for a few years and he'll act a whole lot like Pat.
