First of all, anyone who thinks this book will be as funny as Mein Climb better stop right now.

That said, it seems like this book has potential to be very comical as well, and I'm sure it will contain the usual Team Sky propaganda.

Let's use this thread as a place to laugh and debunk some more Team Sky lies.

Have ordered it, I know G is a very funny carcter with a good sense of humour. Regardless of your opinion on sky you just can't not like the man and his personality. It's not about propaganda it's about his story not sky. I will get back to you when I've read it.

Ramon, I fear you are to optimistic. the thread has been opened in the Clinic, so it will get down a bumpy road.
anyway, I wont read it, as I wont with The Climb or any other cyclist book.

Did he even write it himself as claimed or was it the PR machine?

Some important parts were dictated through radio to a Sky appointed ghost-writer while he was keeping Quintana and other wannabees on a short leash during TdF. He got a bit carried away though in stage 19 and lost 22 minutes.

I can't help but find the title funny. Geraint Thomas isn't a large or unique enough of a cyclist that I would go to him to learn all about the cycling world.

Well, he is a double winner of Bayern Roundfart. Though I think that Harelbeke win made him think he's the right person to assess the world of cycling.

Yeah, this was my thought too.

Are there people out there who actually think athletes write these books themselves?

Maybe its like with doping. Here in the clinic we are so used to being around intelligent people who have figured out how things are, that when we poke our heads out into the rest of the internet or some unsullied stumble into here, we get quite surprised by how little the average jo knows about how the world works.

Its just a marketing title to appeal to the idiots, and shows how shallow the sky fanbase is.

Its actually funny how scripted it all is to appeal to the audience they are seeking.

Wiggins and now froome are in their personalities portrayed as protagonists/heroes , james bond, batman or whatever superhero you want to choose. Fighting evil (ie doping), uncompromising, always working, fuelled by a desire to make the world better and forced to live with concequences of the thankless tasks they do.

brailsfraud are the scientists and debriefers who tell them what to do and give them cool *** like the batmobile, pens that fire bullets or in froomes case the bike that he claims makes him go 15% faster.

Thomas however is the sidekick. Friend of the protagonist, but not quite as powerful. There to make up for whatever personality the hero lacks because he's too busy always fighting evil. Also to show humour (thomas like voigt who he is essentially replacing, is supposedly "funny" in a "lad" sort of way) designed to win empathy from the audience. As a friend of the protagonist it reassures the audience that the hero and his helpers really are supergood, otherwise a great personality like the sidekick wouldn't be their friend.

Otherwise Thomas might have a normal autobiography title, and not this "world according too" nonesence which is clearly playing on the existing trope.

Thomas will need to undergo character development though if he is ever to truly win the Tour.

having "G" is a nickname is already real bad but referencing to yourself with the first name of your name

he was having trouble with his lady friend

it's amazing to me how every British athlete who has any type of modest success gets a book deal. are there really that many people reading this garbage? this guy won a classic and was a pretty good domestique for three quarters of a grand tour, and now he gets a book, too? maybe the Brits just read more than us Americans, maybe that's why they think they're so much smarter. the fact that they waste time with crap like this proves that wrong though. Morrissey was right, people are the same everywhere.

I'm couldn't be less interested in athletes expressing their sentiment, philosophy or experience. What a farcical waste. Keep it on the road, trail or track.

Nailed.

What I find most depressing is that these "heroes" are now portrayed as earnest workaholics. Whatever happened to the flawed genius with shitloads of talent but too little discipline? Disobedient mavericks who live by their own lights and knew how to have a good time? Think Hunt the shunt,Alex Higgins, jimmy white or Gazza. I might not have wanted to hang out with them but Geez, at least there's colour, complexity and individuality. who wants to read about these self righteous and dutiful dullards whose idea of a good time is a lion bar for dinner.

I suppose unquestioning conformity is easier to control.

This book is definitely one to acquire from the remaindered section or charity shop jan 2nd

Couldnt agree more.

I have nothing against Geraint Thomas but how does his carreer so far warrant a biography? If it had been written by the Godfather of Team Sky I would have been interested though, I love his anecdotes and writing style.

The better question is "how many books can we sell." If there's money in it, who cares about what he's accomplished.

So that leaves us with pure Team Sky Internet Hooligans who want to read that book.

I agree.

You can imagine a group ride of local cyclists in Britain...

"Ok chaps, let's turn those pedals but first we need to do a warm up just like Sir Bradley"

"Great work chaps keep it on the small chain ring, no need to tire ourselves out, jolly jolly hockey sticks, I've just been reading G's lastest book and apparently that Chris Froome fellow didn't know who that Italian bloke was riding for the light blue team! I tell you that's outrageous!"

"Come on lads, keep up the tempo, you know those euros are cheating with drugs, we have to work extra hard to beat them for mother England!"

"My apologies, you must excuse my rudeness, when you said you needed more lube for your chain I thought you were talking about Auntie Edna in Norfolk"
