As I was riding behind two riders on the wet road this morning I noticed that one of them kicked up a lot more water than the other. It got me wondering if there has been a study on the watt cost of moving water on a wheel. If each second one rider is flicking a few more grams into the air than another rider - that can add up. As the world Championships were in a downpour - hmm - maybe it may have mattered. I can say that slicks appear to hold more water than treads due to waters adhesive properties I'd guess.

Anything out there?
