Ciolek hasn't won a race in a year since he beat the likes of Hofland, Jans and Debusschere in Vuelta a Andalucia.
Hagen hasn't won a race since he won a sprint in Dauphine in 2013.
Goss I'm not even gonna comment on.
Farrar is probably their best bet to finish in the top 5 here as he's actually still pretty fast, yet he still only has 3 victories the last two years.

He got humiliated in the sprint which debusschere won though. He got a really great leadout from his team and then everyone just flew past him. His topspeed isn't good enough.

If you ask me the sprinters MTN got is a farce and I directly thought it would be a failure. It's too early to make that conclusion though.

in the first sprint all those guys were doing the lead out for Kristian Sbaragli

"They were riding for Kristian today, and they all lined up perfectly and gained control. Maybe they went a little early, the perfect lead out goes from 3k in these fast finishes. They came off with about 5k to go.

Movistar better keep their wits about them. Plans are afoot.

It is windy

I see that now, yes, and the coastal run on those loops is vulnerable.

After snow greeted the riders atop Monte Terminillo yesterday, they opened the curtains in Rieti this morning to driving rain. It was a miserable four degrees Celsius at the start, while at the finish on the coast in Porto Sant'Elpidio, a stiff wind is reportedly gusting in from the Adriatci.

I'll retract my rolleyes. There is an opportunity for action. Result-wise, I'm still skpetical that it will be effective. Grinding to force an echelon halfway through a stage is different than trying at the end. Team members are more spend, everyone generally more spent. Lastly, Contador, Uran, Rodriguez, etc. suffered in the tough conditions; I just have a hard time seeing them rally the next day in equally grueling conditions.

We'll see though.

I agree seems odd to use Sbaragli as their sprinter as (despite the hype some places) on paper he is slower than most of the others. Still a great rider though, very solid and reminds me a lot of Sonny Colbrelli, that he also fought against as amateur. But again Colbrelli is not a rider for a big masssprint

Anyways, they need to bring Theo Bos for their sprinttrain. He is unstabile and all that but he is the only one with the speed needed to possibly succeed.

I was only joking but let's hope something happens. I wonder if Devolder was sent out on the off chance.

Break caught.

Eurosport saying Quintana was a minute down on Tinkoff-Saxo group, which seems false
