At Picnic - or whatever they've been called over the years - he mostly got placements, and wins in smaller races (and also once celebrated a 3rd place, even though the riders ahead were within view...)
Now he has joined the team that once needed a thread, and has started winning WT races, so I figured he could need a thread too.

Very impressive, was not expecting this from him.

Also, his leadout this year has been tremendous and something every other sprinter can be jealous of.

Decathlon proving they're serious at becoming a top tier team. Best sprint train in the business and possibly 2 of the top5 sprinters in the world (hoping Kooij gets healthy soon). And Seixas on top of that.

Impressed by Lund.

Impressed by Lund.
The downside is that Kooij looks entirely superfluous right now. Building a team around Seixas is not really compatible with having two top-tier sprinters.

danish interview from yesterday :
View: https://youtu.be/8RdgPEesXj0?t=176

[ a bit riddled with errors in the machine transcription and translation ]

2:56
There’s a good atmosphere here by the little river next to the big stadium in Sofia in the Smurf jerseys.

3:05
Tobias, I could understand from your, er, your press officer — unfortunately I missed you up there — that you didn’t really feel like giving interviews after the stage.

3:14
No, I don’t think — I don’t think you would’ve got one if you’d asked me up there. I said no to some others. Er, I haven’t got that much nice to say straight after the finish, so I figured it was probably better I came down to my mum.

3:22
And what was it like hugging her again? As you said, it’s not that often that, er, that you’re so generous with the hugs.

3:29
Yeah, but I didn’t exactly get up for a hug right there. Took a little while.

3:33
I had to go and have a shower first, but no, it’s a bit unfortunate, I’d promised flowers on Mother’s Day. Didn’t get that done, so maybe I’ll be in a bit of bad standing now.

3:41
What was it that frustrated you so much at the finish line?

3:46
Well, I think we had a plan. We then changed the plan a bit, which actually — I think, er — we wanted to come late, which would’ve been okay, but then there are sort of some messages coming from further back that they don’t manage to register up at the front. So it’s super frustrating. The worst thing is that you don’t manage to use all the people you’ve got. Erm, so we just end up getting boxed in a bit, so we don’t really get anything out of it.

4:06
I think, just to sort of create a few positive vibes — which I know you like. You are a bit of a jokester after all. Don’t you actually feel like interviewing Rasmus yourself if I hand you the microphone? Yourself? Yeah. Go on then. Here you go. This is a bad idea.

4:22
Søjberg. Yeah. What do you like best about me?

4:27
Erm. That you’re a bit unfiltered sometimes. There’s no *** in between. You don’t mince your words.

4:34
It’s just what you see is what you get. That’s pretty nice.

4:39
What are you looking for in a girlfriend?

4:46
[laughter]

4:47
Erm. Er, someone who’s sweet and charming like yourself. Yeah, like you.

4:55
Oh, that’s sweet of you. What do you say to today then? Are we satisfied?

5:00
No, it’s bloody frustrating. I feel like we make a good plan. And yeah, like I said, there are some messages that don’t quite make it to the front. And whether that’s me that’s the problem, we’ll have to debrief that. But er, I personally felt I did a good job, but er, it just didn’t come off.

5:17
Yeah. No, I think we’ll have a good debrief. He’s off to doping control now. Then we’ll have to talk things through a bit. But er, you still believe in a stage win later in the month?

5:26
Yeah, I believe in several stage wins.

5:33
There we go. Cool. Cool.

5:37
Yeah, I think that was a good, er, good interview. Cheers. Yeah. What — how was it?

5:41
Well, your job’s dead easy, isn’t it. I mean — [laughter] — it runs itself when you don’t fancy talking to someone.

5:46
No, but then you’ve got to find another one. Yeah, I’ll say this, you usually are. Erm, just finally here —

5:53
I know that Søjberg has downloaded Marvel films, er, basically to make you happy. To find some newer films. I know you don’t like the old films he watches.

6:04
No, I just think it’s a bit boring when you get back to those sorts of pictures that are just played through quickly. Er, there’s not much action in the old films he sits watching. So a Marvel film — I’m not that much into superheroes. I mean, I’m nearly 24 now.

6:19
So what would make him satisfied then? What?

6:21
[laughter]

6:22
I just can’t win this battle.

6:23
If we find a bit of comedy or, or a bit of murder or something, then I think — I think we can meet there. Where are you sitting on the plane?

6:30
Er, 20D I think.

6:32
What are you going to watch on the plane, or what are you going to do on the plane?

6:35
Yeah maybe you just sort of zone out a bit. Er, scroll through Twitter a bit, then you can just — I’m going to watch Iron Man 3.

6:43
There we go. Really proud. [laughter] It’s not on HBO Max, so er — no, massive competitor.

6:50
Yeah, I don’t think we can use this. We ought to watch the bike race from today. See the finale. Tryhard.

6:59
Tryhard. [laughter] You don’t watch that on the plane straight afterwards. That’s — that’s simply not happening. I didn’t say you had to on the plane.

7:04
No. Yeah, but I think we’ll do that tomorrow. Or I will. It’s probably good if he gets a few notes done first, then —

7:10
Class. Erm, just finally, stage four. How well do you know it?

7:17
Well, I was sitting talking to people today that it’s one of two stages, so I can’t quite remember which one it is. Is it the one with the one-kilometre climb at the end, or is it the one where there’s 35 kilometres downhill to the finish after two climbs?

7:30
Now we’ll have to ask the tryhard if he’s got a handle on it. I know less. Looks disappointing.

7:36
You can go onto .dk and see where we’ve got — [laughter] — well, I just take one day at a time. Look here, something clever.

7:43
Oh okay. But when it’s you, then it’s fine.

7:45
Well, there’s nothing else to do except prepare stages.

7:48
You know what? If you knew what I had to do, mate. Can we get one of those?

7:51
Don’t you have one of these? Yes. A little Garibaldino. Ah. Right. One of those. A book. A little book. What? We’re at stage four.

7:59
Yeah. Does it come with a plan as well?

8:03
Yeah. All the little crosses are here. Just got Heinrik Hauster to put a little cross. Okay, so that’s the number.

8:11
Right, show it up here.

8:15
That’s not any of what I thought it was.

8:17
There definitely is — there’s quite a big climb, I mean, in the last third, right?

8:22
Yeah, but that 11%.

8:23
No, it maxes at 14. It’s 14.5 with six on average. I think maybe that could actually suit us well.

8:30
So is that where you’re going to launch Søjb?

8:33
Erm, no, him later. I’m thinking he comes right at the end and gives me a little Madison hand sling over the top.

8:40
Then you’ll have to get the good climbing legs out too.

Yeah, I actually think we did quite well today. We were pretty far up on the climb today. But er, then we just had to ride three times as far. We’ll probably manage that, I reckon.

8:53
We hope so. Lads, have a good trip to Italy, and er, I hope you might be allowed to have a pizza on your rest day.

9:01
Yeah, that would be lovely. Don’t think so though. [laughter] Cheers.

So I know this has been probably covered elsewhere but is the middle name Lund a surname or a given name?
Or a surname posing as a given name to "get around the law"?
