so, does anyone knows what will tom do, next?

i would love to watch him sprint at this years tour, not only for that show, but for him to be good for the olympics.

strangely (or not), it looks like tom's next goal is the WRR.

any thoughts/opinions on what tom will/should/could do next?

He returns to racing in the Tour of California. Still hasn't decided to ride the Tour, but has hinted that the Tour might be too hard to combine with the Olympics. He's definitely riding the Olympics. The World Championships is also a big goal.

Belgian championships is always a goal as well, which takes place somewhere in June.

Normally I'd say don't we already have like 10 Boonen threads?

But you can never have enough Boonen threads

Bad news for boonen. Cancellaras crash did not rule him out of the Olympics.

cancellara at the olympics could be a bless for tom. just like tom could, more than anything, be a bless for canc.

Its hard to know where a cobbled classics guy should focus after the Olympics,
I think he should look to slowly build form before riding Daupine - Nationals - Tour - Olympics - Eneco

I personally dont see much point in him entering the worlds, he has never raced Amstel Gold Race and the Belgian team should be based around Gilbert and Vanendert as leaders.

Realistically he should win a stage in Dauphine, win a tour stage then he will be a big favorite for the Olympics given the hills can be used to eliminate Cav, Kittel and Griepel

For World tour points Eneco is perfect with a ttt and cobbles he could easily win overall if he can hold his form.

If he does not ride the TDF ( which would be good for Levi, Velits and Martin- 3 leaders in their own right ) he could easily focus on the Tour of Poland as prep for the Olympics. He would also dominate there considering no Sagan or Kittel/ Dan Martin and Nibali will probably be at the TDF ( he could even go for overall honours ).

That would be a good buildup to the Olympics where he is Belgiums' best sprinting option. He could then do one of the Vuelta/ Canada/ TOB in prep for the Worlds where he again has a chance to feature. Other races on his schedule where he could go well at are Belgium Nats, TOC and Eneco Tour.

@Gilbertador: he did finish 4th on the WC RR route in 2006 at the TDF. If it comes together ( after the Cauberg ) he along with some other riders ( Bennati, Sagan- though he will probably try go on the Cauberg, Goss etc ) would be a favourite.

Tour is the best option for him and his team, followed by the Olympics.

Worlds is too hard. Should've done Amstel this year if he was serious about it, like every other favorite did.

Parcours of 2012 worlds < AGR.
Let's be honest, the bemelerberg is probably one of the easiest hills in Dutch Limburg, and the Cauberg is not thàt difficult, certainly not if there's 17km in between two climbs of it. With a bit of bad luck, the most deciding factor can be the wind on the plain between the "summit" of the Bemelerberg and the descent towards Valkenburg.

bringing joy to boonen and many other noses since, who really cares?
:p

Anyway, think Boonen will go on to win some Tour stages if he participates and he will do very well on the olympic course.
The worlds..hmm I think too hard, but we'll see
