Well, ladies and gentlemen, while cycling fans everywhere in the world will be glued to their TV sets and computer monitors on May 23, watching an epic (please, please be epic) Giro stage, as the race enters the Dolomites, there are two important races starting in Europe, one of them being 2.HC Tour of Belgium.

Last year Philip Gilbert destroyed the field to capture the overall victory, but this is 2012, in addition to questionable form, this year the race includes 20km time trial proper, instead of a short prologue. Can Gilbert regain some of his last year's form, to salvage the season?

This race also marks Alexandr Kolobnev's return to competitive racing for the first time since July 2011.

Zam: Thanks, I had those too, just had to quickly make the second post for those profiles, and then actually edit them in, so that there would be no posts between Intro and Profiles

What a great race and i hope the tony martin takes the overall.

I'm hoping for an epic Tony Martin vs Gilbert showdown. Martin taking 45 seconds out of Gilbert in the time-trial, with Gilbert clawing back the time on stage 5. El_Pisti and BR going crazy, Pisti forgetting to troll the Dutch for the entire day, BR not even paying attention to the tarmac conditions. EPICNESS!!!

One could also **** BR off by starting a Bayern-Rundfahrt thread quickly. That race runs parallel to Tour of Belgium, on the same days that is :D

I don't like to make race threads. :p

The only thing I'm mad about is the thread title.

Ronde van België it should be? :p

Anyway wonder if Gilbert is back to his 100% old self. If so he'll easily win this.
Wonder how Stybar does as well. :)

I don't know about "easily". I mean there is 20+ km of time-trialing this year, and a certain Tony Martin present. I'd say it's his race to lose.
Anyway, should be a very good week for cycling, Giro, this race, just realized Cancellara is making his return in the Bayern Munich Rundfahrt as well.

Yeah, together with Tour de Belgique.

Time trial is 20km and flat with almost no turns. Going to be hard to beat Tony Martin here. He can get over a hill no problem. Normally, Gilbert should win the queen stage though, but I don't think he'll win the overall unless Tony Martin fails/has bad luck.

I can see Stybar getting second on the queen stage. Or first if Gilbert still sucks. Should be interesting to see the cyclo-cross guys in action again. Niels Albert, Kevin Pauwels, Sven Nys versus Lars Boom and Styby. :D

I hope to see something from Niels here, don't expect much from the other two.

So three all flat stages? I hope those who complained about California will trash this one , too then:rolleyes:

Anyway.
Tony should win the TT easily. If he goes all out in the TT, Gilbert could win the GC.

With the difference Tour of Belgium organisers don't pretend to be the biggest race out there, that's why they don't get trashed,

A subtle difference you don't seem to get, as always

Talking about subtile differences. I had hoped Garmin would be there so we can see how subtite the difference between Tony and Dekker is in the TT:D
Do you know if Dekker will be doing the Dauphine?
