Martin should ride the next two stages in the gruppetto, and he'll have an advantage over Cancellara - who needs to kill himself for the Schlecks.

ACs ITT is overrated, his strong ITT performances all came at a time when he was ridiculing everyone in the mountains. If Evans can just somewhat keep up with him on Galibier & AdH, he is gonna beat him here.
Think of the Dauphine 09, both at the same level in the mountains->Evans clearly better in the ITT or Dauphine 10 with AC & Brajkovic about the same->Janiz beats him big time in the ITT or Tour 10 with Menchov gaining and AS not losing much or even in the final Giro ITT he beat Scarponi & Nibali by about the same amount he did on the mountain finishes.

Evans to be the best of the GC riders.

Andy to defend himself suprisingly well.

Fabian Tony Millar Boasson Hagen Thomas top 5.

Not many agreeing with you...

I think Martin should try win it. That way it would attract HTC as staying on as a sponsor and will get some good German publicity. The rolling course will suit him as well. I would have gone DZ but he is out. Also Wiggins. Could Thor get a surprising result ( top 10 )??? Cancellara will be very hard to beat. I think Geraint will do well. So will Uran who will consolidate lead in the white jersey.

Even if Shleck rides as well as last year he has to have a good buffer. Cadel has raced on this course previously and will be a big threat. Contador as well, though he might be tired and has not RACED it.

My outside hopes for stage win are Millar and Levi. Millar because he is a top rider and Levi because he needs to get RS some good publicity.

If EBH has the form of the last two days he could be a surprising challenge to Martin/Cancellara. But other than that, it's going to be between those two. Unless Martin tries some heroics in the mountains, he'll have an advantage over Cance who'll be working his ar*e off for the Schlecks.

Contador will win the time trial. Martin almost got beaten by Wiggins in the Dauphiné time trial. And his form is as crappy there as it is here. Fabian Cancellara hasn't impressed me all Tour. I don't think he's in top shape.

The desperation of some people to start a tour thread, even to the extent of trying to write as if it is Friday night really is a sight to behold.

I hope they have the decency to update it with actual time gaps when we know in 2 stages time.

Since this is clearly directed at me - I like doing stage and race starts have done them since I started posting and had nothing to do at work today. No really worth getting all about it I would not think - but each to their own.

Might make update times might not - maybe just so your blood pressure goes up. :D:p

Tony Martin is the second best time trialist in the world and the main question is, whether or not he can beat Cancellara on Saturday. Can't see him behind Contador or any other GC contender in this TT especially considering the fact that this TT comes after 2 cruel mountain stages.

The fact that he beat probably the 3rd best TTer in the world, who was in top form at the time, shows how tough he's going to be to beat on this course, not that he's there for the taking because he only just managed it.

But Wiggins isn't the third best, especially not after 3 weeks.

The Dauphine ITT you're referring to was after 3 days though, not 3 weeks. Brad was clearly in tremendous TT form at the time - he'd destroyed Cancellara in one a couple of weeks earlier also. There's no point denying it - Martin must have been really going some to beat Wiggins in that race.

Martin could beat Spartacus on this.

LOL at El Pistolero. Martin scorched the Dauphine TT. Wiggo was awesome in it too - look at the time gaps on Evans, Vino, GT etc

Time gaps on not time trial specialists, wow!. Cancellara in top form would have won by 2 minutes over Wiggins.

Vino, the great time trial specialist that's ancient old
