I really don't have a problem with mansard roofs. Watch out for the biggest evil on private property worldwide, though, during the Deutschlandtour. In recent years Germans can't get enough of gardens full of grey stones so nothing grows and they won't have to do any gardening, and also stones in metal frames at the border of their gardens. There are quarters with one of these "gardens" next to the other.

One of the great things about cycling that separates it from most other sport: you get to see the world and see what other people make of their places.
