I'm not sure Van Aert will have a lot of energy and motivation for the mountains now, and maybe Vingegaard will miss that. We've seen that before - Van Aert putting a massive effort into the flat and semi flat stages and not being able to support his captains later on.
I'm not saying it's wrong - the Belgian has done so well. But the traditional yellow jersey teams didn't give their riders quite as much freedom.
Is this some weird rebel without a cause thing? WVA worked hard for the team yesterday, so he's working even harder for himself today. I can't think of a harder way to keep the jersey and win the stage. Too many red bulls?
