Will Ackermann finally be able to do his first tour? I would wish him that!
Will DSM give Jakobsen as usually planned the tour ticket with fullsupport? His results had been awful..

Demare is having an even worse season than Jakobsen but with so many sprint stages and several of the top sprinters not riding it probably makes sense to gamble on bringing one or two sprinters regardless of form.

A bit weird, not going with Kelderman, and also because Kelderman was climbing well.

Nevertheless, it looks like they don’t want more climbers than Kuss and Jorgenson, they want another rouler to stick to the plan of the high KJ thing.

Unless they think/know that Vingegaard won't be competitive. If so, bringing Kelderman doesn't bring much to the team and Van Battle is more useful for Van Aert.

Harper's form is a bit of a question mark, Yates comes into the race with the same stealth bomber prep as last year. Only one climber to support him seems a bit meh to me, if Dunbar was fit after his Giro injury I'd bring him to support Simon Yates.

Yeah, not a lot of support for a rider, who finished 4th in last years edition. Perhaps his rumoured switch to Visma next season also has something to do with it...

That said, he also didn't have a lot of support last year.

It's a bit of a meh squad. I would have left home Juul-Jensen and Durbridge primarily because Jayco should not be riding at the front in any stage. I would have taken two of these three in Scotson, Schmid or Foldager. Schmid after a slow start was coming into form at Dauphine and could help Matthews, while Scotson could have helped in the sprint lead out or provide support to Yates in the medium mountains. I would have considered neo-pro Foldager who after an injury affected start to the season is coming into shape. Realistically, Matthews should win a stage with the form he has shown in 2024, while Groenewegen is a chance to win a stage when you consider the weakness of the sprint field. It will be hard for Yates to win a stage, even though, he should do a good GC.

With a healthy Vingegaard this would be such a perfectly well rounded team. UAE on paper has more fire power in the mountains but on flat and hilly terrain Visma looks clearly better and the doms all seem a bit more trustworthy than what UAE is bringing. Just sucks that the leader likely doesn't have the right shape to make it a battle.

UAE on paper has more fire power in the mountains but on flat and hilly terrain Visma looks clearly better and the doms all seem a bit more trustworthy than what UAE is bringing. Just sucks that the leader likely doesn't have the right shape to make it a battle.

UAE brought more rouleurs to the Giro than they are bringing to the Tour...
Not having a guy like Bjerg at the Tour and bringing Tim "heat allergy" Wellens to the Tour instead of the Giro isn't exactly the best plan...
