Tour de France 2025 route rumours and announcements

I read it on velowire of the possible return of La plagne.

I hope is not true. Superbagneres and La plagne are the type of mountain finishes ASO should avoid because they're not steep climbs.

I hope Finestre will be at the Tour, and i would like very much if Granon returns.

If the Pyrenees will be super light, it could means, Mont ventoux on sunday.

Superbagneres and La Plagne are great climbs. I don't know why we are so focused on steepness of the climbs and relate that to time gaps or spectacle. Not only that, it depends how you put the designs of the stages.

In 1986 Superbagneres provided one of the best mountain stages that I ever watched in my life.

not all MTFs need to be steep

very long grinding climbs have their place

Personally, i don't like those type of climbs, because the draft has been playing a major role, even more in the last years, with the improvement of the bikes.

On those type of climbs, the draft makes no difference.

Besides that, it looks like those type of climbs doesn't tire that much the top climbers.

I would like a long grinding climb as a MTF only if there is a long and steep penultimate climb that summits with like 50 km to go or something. That way, it incentivizes long range attacks.

the aliens don't seem to have issues going from distance on tempo grinders

let's not confuse the boring human division, who allows the break to win most mountain stages, with the 3 aliens who their version of a bad day is beating a Pantani record by a minute while still losing 3

There are rumours of a stage to Monte Dore (massif central) on july 14th.
So as an example of what that could plausibly look like:

Nothing brutal and no steep climbs like stage 11 this year, but still very good for a July 14 stage and it gives room for wild GC moves too.

How do you know that? Do you know how each rider will evolve in the next years?

There's nothing certain in cycling.

Maybe in the next years it will appear a new better generation and those guys will not win anymore.
I like Remco and love his style of racing. But he was over 3 minutes down on Jonas Vingegaard this year despite JV having next to no preparation or racing. A fully fit JV would put over 5 mins on him IMO, the best he can hope for is third. Just IMO.
