Impressive win for Vansevenant and Van der Poel being able to follow Hirschi on a stage like this is really good news ahead of the Worlds.

Not really, if he can't follow Vansevenant an Formolo he has no chance vs Pogacar and Evenepoel on probably a harder courseImpressive win for Vansevenant and Van der Poel being able to follow Hirschi on a stage like this is really good news ahead of the Worlds.
My thought exactly. If anything, if his form today is anything to go by, this stage showed that Van der Poel isn't winning Worlds this year. They already knew that. With Mathieu you never know, he can be absolute crap the week before and then dominate, and today he wasn't crap. He wasn't great either though. He had all the trouble in the world following Hirschi, and Hirschi is no Pogacar.
Great win by Vansevenant. Formolo got a little cocky there...

Did Ayuso do anything to help Hirschi, in any way, at any point?A characteristically great tactical display by UAE so far.

I think in this picture the saddle is touching his tailbone, but just barely... if I wanted to get creative I'd say the tailbone is still a part of our butt anatomy, the UCI obviously has different ideas.Looks like he interpreted the "butt must be in contact with saddle" rule somewhat... creatively.
I agree with that. In my opinion the Worlds circuit is comparable, if not slightly easier, to Montreal. If we use the (stupid) meters per kilometer climbing metric, Montreal is tougher. In fairness to Van der Poel, today had steeper climbs and a finale with a higher climb density than Worlds. I think the Worlds course difficulty is way overrated because of some exaggerated vertical meter number, there’s no climb longer than five minutes and few steep ramps.

At this point I think we need more pictures of his arse and the saddle situation from different angles so we can make sure the penalty was warranted!I think it looks like it's just touching a random part of his buttock.
But now that Formolo didn‘t sit on his saddle in the Tour de Luxembourg, hundreds of children will have lifechanging injuries because they will want to emulate Formolo and will crash horribly because they won‘t sit on their saddle.I think a DSQ is harsh for Formolo. Just give him a 30-second penalty, that seems fair to me. Like with Roglic in the Vuelta
Bilbao does it every descent and hasn't gotten a fine for it.I think in this picture the saddle is touching his tailbone, but just barely... if I wanted to get creative I'd say the tailbone is still a part of our butt anatomy, the UCI obviously has different ideas.

It's almost like having to tell the parents their kids won't be performing well when they first hit the beam in women's gymnastics, or they won't get it right when throwing the javelin for the first time, right? But now that Formolo didn‘t sit on his saddle in the Tour de Luxembourg, hundreds of children will have lifechanging injuries because they will want to emulate Formolo and will crash horribly because they won‘t sit on their saddle.
1.3.008 The rider shall normally assume a sitting position on the bicycle. This position requires
that the only points of support are the following: the feet on the pedals, the hands on the
handlebars and the seat on the saddle.
2.2.025 Riders must observe the standard position as defined by article 1.3.008. Sitting on the
bicycle’s top tube is prohibited. Furthermore, using the forearms as a point of support on
the handlebar is prohibited except in time trials.
Noted, and thank you for the warning.Tbf the jury in Luxemburg has been very strict for the whole race. Lots of fines for inappropriate behavior.
So it's not out of the blue but actually fits their line of immediately sanctioning inappropriate behavior!

I cited the rule two posts above yours.Noted, and thank you for the warning.
But I still need to see the specific rule where on the saddle you are supposed to position yourself when you are a pro.
brother what, obviously he won't follow all moves and Vansevant and Formolo went quite early. VDP had no teammates, he gambled on UAE to solve his problems. My thought exactly. If anything, if his form today is anything to go by, this stage showed that Van der Poel isn't winning Worlds this year.
He did look weaker than Hirschi. Which is not a shame but Hirschi is 23/1 to win the worldchampionship.brother what, obviously he won't follow all moves and Vansevant and Formolo went quite early. VDP had no teammates, he gambled on UAE to solve his problems.
He stayed with Hirschi apart from a small moment on the final climb, and dropped all other contenders. With some reputated climbers here like Gaudu and Kelderman. If anything he showed strong form.
Weird conclusions being drawn here
