Welcome to the first edition of the Tour La Provence, which is organized by Serge Pascal and sponsored by La Provence, a newspaper owned by the tycoon Bernard Tapie.

This new race fills the gap between Tour du Haut-Var (which is also organized by Serge Pascal) and Boucles du Sud-Ardèche, and will likely benefit to the puncheurs overall.

23/02 - Stage 1 -> Aubagne - Cassis (170 km)

24/02 - Stage 2 -> Miramas - Istres (185 km)

25/02 - Stage 3 -> La Ciotat - Marseille (173 km)

Nice intro, with a mention that made me smile: Bernard Tapie, Oleg before there was an Oleg. What a scoundrel that Nanard :D . More than anything else, I'll be curious to see where Alaphilippe is at in his recovery. If he's anywhere near his max, JCP will be in the mix. BTW, la Route des Cretes, wow! A heck of a murito. And the view from the cliffs is breathtaking.

Vakoc has had a good start to the season. I hope to see some footage of this race, as it was a great course.

I assume there were time gaps? PCS doesn't list them, nor cyclingnews.com Very likely that the GC is decided unless riders like Gavazzi finished ST.

Shaky finish line footage is available on cyclinghub: http://cyclinghub.tv/post.php?id=1342

Looks like Tommy V has 8-9 seconds on a group of about 4-5 riders, followed by about 10 more a few seconds later?
