Tour of Britain 2024, September 3-8

What the majority of the bedroom keyboard warriors on this forum don't seem to understand is that pro cycling, like everything else involving people, is political and subject to human relations. Remco knows perfectly well that winning the Tour of Britain would be basically meaningless for his career and that Steve Williams would be a much more 'appropriate' winner for a British race. He is not at the race to win, he is there to get race conditioning (believe it or not pro cyclists generally prefer competing in races to private training) and to help promote the event (which came very close to folding) with his presence.
That is one perspective but the alternative view is that Remco winning would enhance the prestige of the race in the longer term to have the Olympics champion on the roll call of winners.

looks like today's stage will have quite a bit of wind, and it has some nice crosswind sections in the middle part.

Unfortunately the final ~30k are straight into a headwind, though.
Not wrong about that just rode the last 20km of the stage, and that's a stonkin headwind all the way in to the finish straight. I'm knackered.

It might die down by the time they arrive though, the wind direction often reverses in the afternoon near the coast here.

Though the stretch from Aldeburgh to Grundisburgh will be very quick

Is he? De Lie has gravitated increasingly towards raw power and durability and is better on short hills than in flat sprints at this point, whereas Magnier is more a sprinter who gets over hills well. Also think De Lie is currently the better of the two at everything that isn't a flat sprint.

Magniers watts aren't even that special (in general, they are really good for someone his age). Similar to De Lie right now (and De Lie's sprint watts were higher 2 years ago). No idea what Logic is even saying. Also like you said, not the same type of rider right now. Magnier is already way better at full on bunch sprints cause of De Lie's positioning issue tho.

He's similar but better than De Lie imho.

I really really wonder what this is even based on.

Riders who got 2nd in the races he won this year: Blikra, Vernon, Vernon, Teutenberg, Conforti, Del Grosso, Lamperti, Dainese (fair enough but everything to do with amazing QS leadout and technical final).

He is very talented, but let's calm down a bit. I have no idea why you would even think he's better than De Lie.

For anyone wondering what 'Rock Around The Shop' sells, it's this traditional seaside sweet. A rock hard, teeth-breaking tube of sugar.

Who?
You?
Get inside. Get dry.

Yes just as they finished the stage the big rain cloud came through and dropped all the rain, it's only just stopped raining now, if theyd been 10mins slower it would have been carnage with that finish, and then we stood through the prize giving & Cavendish celebration just getting absolutely hammered with the rain and wind because there was no cover and by that stage you're already soaked and the waters going down the back of your rain jacket, so what difference did it make.

Got to ride home now with soggy shoes :) though I might bail out and take the train halfway.
