Tour of California Stage 4: San Jose to Modesto 195.5 km

Somebody had to start one, I guess. Doesn't look like there will be too many fireworks to me but you never know. The pure sprinters will probably be gone, so it looks good for Sagan or Haussler.

Eh, I'm not sure the pace will be high enough to drop Cav, but then again he has been climbing especially poorly so far this season. Sagan or Haussler is probably a good shout, but I'm not writing Cav off just yet.

He got over the first one, which is the only sustained proper climb, after that it's just short ramps and false flats.

Oh shucks, so coverage starts right after they went over the last climb, because, we haven't seen enough long flat straight roads yet ...?

They say there's 9ks of climbing to go so it must be a big type of drag. That's probably why the speed is down.

Phil and Paul explaining to me for the one millionth time that 2 or 3 strong teams (RS and Garmin) can wipe away a 5 minute breakaway in no time at all... COOL I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!! ahhh....

I didn't know Lars Boom is only 24 yrs old but he's been racing since 2001?? cooL!!!

I just tried the official live tracker, it took forever to load, slowed my machine and that awful pleading woman advertisement.

As soon as I could wrestle control back from the browser I closed it off.

Some web sites are too cute for their own good.

A lot of chatting going on this far out. Again, very much like yesterday's Giro stage.

Nobody is doing a breast stroke impression to mock the rain though ( yes had that at the Giro yesterday before it got serious)

You're supposed to enjoy the California countryside.

This is different landscape to Europe. Yes, not as amazing as Italy but still better than the industrial estates in the Vuelta or the blocks of flats in Belgium.

So, no way they're going to finish in 1h 40 min which is how much VS has scheduled for cycling. Will they show us the finish today or not?

Even more impressive: Lars Boom is only 24 years old and still he's a quadruple world champion.
- 2003: junior world champ cyclocross
- 2007: U23 world champ cyclocross
- 2007: U23 road ITT world champ
- 2008: elite world champ cyclocross

I hate that he's Dutch :)
