Tour of Lombardy

I'm off to watch the Tour of Lombardy in October. No bikes, no cars, just legs and public transport. Does anyone have any good tips? I heard rumours about the route being changed again, but maybe from 2012, so right now I'm planning on a Milan start and a Como finish. We're going to watch the start of the race for sure. Is there anywhere else people particularly recommend that's viable without a car or bike? I'd love to go on the Ghisallo and read somewhere about a bus. Any thoughts on Como or the final hill just outside it? And has anyone ever hopped across Lake Como on a ferry to catch the race at different points?

I've got fairly good at the Belgian classics now but Italy is new to me.

Where are you flying in to? If it's Malpensa the malpensa Express takes you into Saronno where you can get a Le Nord train to Como.

From Como it's possible to get to Bellagio but the connections to Magreglio are not great. Plus on race day I think the. Buses are even less convenient.

It might be better to try and watch on San Fermo della Battaglia which is within walking distance of the centre of Como. It's also where Gilbert has launched his coup de grace.

I'll be there from the 7th onwards so pm me for more info.

Looks like the finish is moving this year to Lecco. Well the start is still in Milan so will definitely watch there and then we'll see about the rest.
