The 60th edition of the now-traditional start of the Italian season. Last year's edition was excellent and the field is strong once more, can the race deliver again? You'll need a VPN or dig up a stream to find out if you're not in Italy, as it's once again only on RAI.

The run-in
Some uncategorised climbing early on to Arnasco and Onzo, then the categorised ascents of Cima Paravenna and Testico. These two climbs share the same descent, last year there was a decisive split the second time it was taken on.

The circuit
Effectively four laps (they join it like 100 metres after the finish line), featuring the nasty Colla Micheri followed by another tricky descent and the easy Capo Mele, from the side descended in Sanremo.

That's one Pinot didn't win, like the 3-Valle and I hope that he does well. There's always action on this race.

Would it be too much for me to hope that in 7ish hours time, it will turn out that this post aged wonderfully bad? :D

Why is it horrible weather in Spain and Italian races, the races that don't need it and good weather in Belgian races, the races that would be great with bad weather.

According to RAI, Ramses Debruyne is still in the peloton. Which is great news, he's still only 20, but had some great results as a junior, but then fell off the face of the earth and had some rough years. Seems like he's resurfacing now.

And now there's a crash.

He was, also good in France last weekend.
