Trofeo Laigueglia - February 19

Maybe this belongs in the lesser known races thread but the cq game has made the smaller races more interesting to follow. Besides, it is a 1.1 and it looks like Daotec is on the shelf for awhile. I'm liking having more racing threads anyway.

A bit of a sprinter's classic, but it looks like attackers have spoiled the bunch gallop a few times

Ginanni's back for a possible three-peat. Sagan, Petacchi, Modolo, Gavazzi also there if it ends in a sprint.

Rujano for the win.

I'll be pulling for Sagan in this one, honestly don't know enough about who's gonna be there, who's really on form, etc. to make an honest prediction. The course definitely does suit someone like Sagan though, and Liquigas should be working for him.

Rujano might not be racing....

even in his best form he couldn't win this.not his type.

yep richeze did well in this race before but i have no idea in what kind of form he is now.

ginanni will be the big favourite for this.others:sagan, pietropolli(great form).the chances that guys like di luca, ballan, schumacher or cunego will rip apart the peloton and succeed are pretty slim.

Sprinters classic? Are you serious? It has two climbs just shy of 700m and a loop that climbs to 430m twice with a low of 47m. To call Laigueglia a sprinters race is daft, plain & simple. When you've actually ridden those roads you'll see that Liguria is not flat at all, even on the coast. Coming over Capo Berta you can be in the 39 coming up the climb and almost have to stay in it on the descent due to the strength of the wind!

Ivan the terrible 10th. Looking all right 5 months from his aim.

Ballan in 7th. All cobbled guys are looking good.

Ballan put in a big attack from 7km's out but that initiated the smaller split from the main split. Any highlights?
