Types of Carbon fibre

I've been through the first 5 pages of this forum and didn't find a thread about it so I decided to start one myself.

I know you have different types of carbon fibre, like 60K High Modulus Carbon(on the pinarello Dogma) or 40K - 30K etc....

Now does anybody know what the difference between these types is? Is it the way the fibre are 'woven' or the pressure at which the frames are made?

You may have to go to China to find out much about it they have all the high tech its all to do with the weave. how many colours can you make out of carbon black.

Black is black so.
You can get white silver red .just to name a few.

high modulus carbon is very stiff and rigid but will break before giving much.
lower modulus carbon is less stiff but flexes without breaking. this is why some carbon frames are far better than others. the best use a mix of low and high modulus carbon in various critical areas where it is needed.
the weave is mostly cosmetic adds a little abrasion resistance and adds weight these days almost all high end frames contain no weave and use unidirectional carbon to shed weight.

carbon frames are most certainly not all the same

When you see carbon fibre described as 60K, it means it has an Ultimate tensile strenghth of 60,000 lbs per square inch.UTS is the point at which the material will fail.
