Tyre problem. Please help!

Hi guys, and gals. Firstly, I have had 2 punctures on 2 rides and haven't found a puncture hole from either!

I must also say that I do not know the ins and outs of a bike, but I know how to repair a puncture!

After a through examination of the wheel/tyre/inner tube; I have concluded it is not a pinch puncture, or a regular puncture, and the rim tape is centred and there is no excess debris in the tube or tyre.

I have noticed that at a previous puncture site (now patched up) that on the inside of the tyre - the threads of the tyre are showing and are loose. In the same area, on the outside of the tyre there is a bulge and its soft and easily depressed (compared to the rest of the tyre), and whenever the inner tube is inflated it seems to leak from there. But I never find a hole in the inner tubes?

What is going on? Do I need a new tyre?

New tire. The bulging is the cause of you flats, it stretches out while riding and is causes a thinner rubber area and is susceptible to flats, the object that causes the flat does not necessarily stay stuck to the tube/tire. It may look intact but the object might of just poked through and then fell off, some are super small, how big are the holes in the tube? Tiny tube holes sometimes cause you to think the tube is fine because air escapes very slowly. If you can see casing the tire is done for unless you put a boot in if you are trying to be super green.

In the end you can convert your bad tire to a lot of boots for future use by cutting it up and storing a good piece in your supplies. So its not a total loss, but still a loss as far as using it to ride on its own.

Maybe a stupid question but did you inflate the punctured tube and immerse it in water?

Also perhaps you have faulty seals on the valve (the water test should reveal it).

that outer soft spot means you simply need a new tire...the integrity of the bead is gone...and it being a wheel it throws everything off...just physics...one of the better and real upgrades you can make imho is better tires...makes a big difference and will save you money rather than using cheapos which I am betting you have been...

Yup, easiest and fastest way to find the small holes, big ones you can feel on your skin. Dip the valve stem closed for good measure. And always test your patch job by leaving a good amount of air in your tube after it has dried, if you're not out on the road.
