SMH...that makes no sense, reptile. Try harder....

Btw, I've enjoyed my first week of teaching this semester. Teaching is one of the perks of having a phd. Something you wouldn't know about. ;)
You trot that out a bit, don't you? And then there was the one that Chris pulled up that started all of this. Had you answered the guy about your field and it was relevant it would have had more meaning than something like gender studies, but then maybe that's why you were mum on the subject.

This is one of the most important strategic alliances we have..
One thing is for certain Turkey has been dealt some better cards in this weeks Don dealing.
what is the makeup of the iraqi parliament? who was really there that was not a total iranian backed militia member?
having your troops in kuwait is essentially the same thing, in the scheme of taking the terroist on in the middle east it is all the same. i was under the impression that trump did not want to have endless wars and troops deployed. looks like he should bring more home instead of sending more over the pond.

hey frank im slow on this but what gives on the phd conversation?

i edited this post because I went back and read your posts and discussion. some of those are some old posts.

Is any of that even remotely surprisng? Saddam was a convenient atheistic and socialist expedient (while it lasted) who formed a gang automatically quite anti-Shia and disposed to favour Sunnis (pro Saudi and hence US preferred) for decades, having family connections in that group. Now that he is gone a Shia (pro Iran) parliament was a foregone conclussion. It's called democracy, even when the US doesn't like democracy.

sure and they have the right to chose who they want. the usa and others do not need to interfere. the regime change foreign policy for iraq has had poor results for the usa.

If you don't know python, you don't get the joke. Like you, he was a humorless sort whose brain exploded when he heard the dreaded three letter word. So it may have come up a few times. You have to twist yourself into mental knots to not see the irony in those posts. My winding him up did earn a deserved ban. Guilty as charged, your honor.

I have a PhD in a science field. We weren't talking about gender studies. I was asked what I knew about science. I have studied or worked for over 20 years in science. If you think that clarification would 've settled things, I have a nice bridge to sell you.

If I gave my speciality, it would give away my name for all intents and purposes. It is against the rules of the forum and even if it wasn't, I don't want trump superfans visiting me outside the confines of this website. People who attack my family to score internet points or spout bizarre conspiracy theories are not people I care to meet or want my partner to meet.

Are you that guy after every criterium that says the winner was juiced or had a hidden motor?
WTF? Make up your mind!
Trump says he would not give money to the Ukraine wo " something " done about corruption..
Ooops, gave the money over and over and over..I stopped at 3 overs because on the 4th he and rabid Rudy figured a way to ball squeeze the Ukrainian President and government.
NEVER did Trump,Gulliani or any other dirt bag mention corruption or doing anything about it!
Now you are summarily dismissing the credibility of everyone serving in Iraqi government? And all along having our troops there and sending freighters full of cash to those you suddenly find unworthy! Are you fvcking, kidding me!
So as long as you shut up and go along with everything you are OK..but if you disagree your a planted shill?
You probably should assess reality. Trump lies. And on the odd occasions that he is nothing in some state of argument w or about someone or something..
He makes mistakes.
Foreign policy is NOT common sense. It's chess, strategic long term, anticipating cause and effect for a distance greater than the end of your nose of d!ck,whichever is longer.
So if you are saying that Trump wasn't sure of the strength and inner workings of our strategic alliance before pulling the trigger..I agree.
If you said Trump knew all the relationships in the region were fragile to phuckt, up and he still pulled the trigger..I agree with that..
You don't pull the trigger and get a loud wave of public..international resistance to assassinating a person in a foreign land..not your own.
The biggest problem Trump has is the problem the Russians had, and all the others before then..these people are hard to kill, and waaaay harder to control.
This entire street gang BS trash talk Trump repeats and tweets in just a waste. He is not, will not get respect, gain some world wide street cred by murdering people. He said people are not laughing anymore..from his allies to his foes,,his own citizens are laughing at his stupidity.
Bullies win here there but the long view from Trump policy is a world disaster.
Look around man!
Wake up and smell the cat food!
this guy is a warm bag of puss w skin toner!
Put yourself in his mind..his wife is home nursing his 4 month old and he is going unprotected balls deep into a porn star.
if he is worthy of your respect and admiration ..go outside..pick anybody..a guy stealing your bike or car is almost a guarantee of being a better person.
Your bar is set at Jared from Subway level,,Jeffrey Epstein level..
Hillary is a scumbag on every level ,she looks like Mother Teresa compared to Donald.
He is going to get Americans killed shamelessly, senseless,on a mood..on a whim!

To summarize, over and over you bring your degree to the conversation as a bonafide, then you don’t want to talk about it.

I pretty damned sure nobody here give a wit regarding your actual identity or would bother to show up to your door step. Those supporting capitalism, free-market economic principles and a love of Country really aren’t who you should be concerned about.

Surely you must not be so dimwitted as to avoid connecting Soleimani's proxy warfare against the US, with the later overstepping its reach in the Middle East in using Osama bin Laden and the Taliban as a pretext for invading Iraq (for Big Oil) on trumped up charges? And the consequences this had for furthering Saudi influence in the region at the expense of Iran.

America had the perfect opportunity to create new alliances, but lacked the vision to relinqish old habits.

It's also supremely ironic that Iran and Russia are now allies, given the Islamic Republic's aversion for the ex-Soviet Union. But how is that possible chap?
my phd tells me that you are full of it.

they are a sad excuse for a human just let them continue to embarrass themselves.

I actually had someone, on this forum, threaten to come to my state, kill me, and rape my wife. True story. The intertubes is a place filled with people with a twisted sense of reality. You fit right in.

No, I have talked quite a bit about my background in some of the threads where it is on topic and the queries/ discussion have been in good faith. Just about everybody who has been around here awhile has given some bit of background. Military, law, wannabe fireman, historian, professor, scientist, or business man. Maybe everyone is lying. But this venue is so low stakes, I assume people are on the level. If you don't believe me, there is nothing I can do to convince you and I am fine with that. I don't feel I am touting by bonafides by saying that I know more about climate change than people with little background in science/ academia.

People can be nasty of any political stripe. We had one poster get permabanned for threatening to shoot another one (as you might remember). And this forum seems to be headed in a more unmoderated direction. Most of the pro trump crowd got the ban hammer a while back and had various heated meltdowns on the way out the door. Lord only knows who could be following along. People can harbor irrational grudges and notions.

For instance, my pro trump neighbors think black people ride the train from balt to my suburb to steal and deal drugs so want to ban the train. Read the article and see how little respect a veteran who needed the train to get medical assistance got from his neighbors.

those facts are not something anyone on the radical left are acknowledging. there was and is a un travel ban and they went to collude with the russians.
Many on the right also not acknowledging some lesser known facts which are being deliberately obscured by the administration presumably on the grounds of national security.

Such as, the Iran nuclear 'deal' is central to the importance of this figure and why he was taken out. Those protesting inside the Democrat party stood to make financial gain from that deal as they did with the Ukraine 'aid' deal. Are the two related? You bet your ass they were. What was Ukraine important to the Soviet Union for...

This answer doesn't need some vast conspiracy theory. It has been reported widely this weekend. Trump was presented with a range of options and this is the one he picked with his characteristic nonchalance. Pompeo had been working behind the scenes for months trying to bring this about.

We have given bad actors prime material to recruit more bad actors. And it is entirely deserved based on our behavior. This is who we chose to be.

Why doesn't someone ask Haley how many Iraqi children were blown to smithereens by US bombers? Including children in hospitals. I find such sanctimonious rhetoric appalling. And on arming disreputable types, violation of human rights? Oh please.
She’s on Twitter. Ask her yourself.

Conversely, how may dead Americans, Yemeni, Syrian, Iraqi and Iranians at the hands of Soleimani?

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. People can harbor all sorts wild beliefs. That much we agree on.

As Members of Congress, our first responsibility is to keep the American people safe. For this reason, we are concerned that the Administration took this action without the consultation of Congress and without respect for Congress’s war powers granted to it by the Constitution.

Pelosi is working hard looking for more impeachment articles.

Mod hat on:

Having read back through the past few pages, we should probably be banning pretty much everyone who has been contributing to this thread. While we are more lenient in here than we are elsewhere in the forum due to the nature of the discussion, I'd just like to remind everyone that personal attacks are not allowed. In the spirit of the season, lets draw a line under what has been said and put it down to holiday spirits. Back to regular service please.

Cheers,

KB.
