According to the UCI Over the next weeks, cycling followers will see the label “UCI frame” on their champion’s bikes, but also on those for sale in their favourite bike shop. All models of frames and forks produced after 1st January 2011 must sport this label in order to be used in road, track and cyclo-cross events on the UCI calendar.

They have produced a list of approvec frames and neither Specialized or Colnago is on it!!!

i hope these labels appear on ebay soon :) so people dont have to waste money buying new frames just to get a little sticker.

I guess if you're into stickers its something to look forward to.

No bike you already have has thesm so don't see The big gain, except an extra gram or so in weight.

You may as well have the Brodeal sticker of approved frames be your maker.

It would make me more likely NOT to buy a frame that had this sticker attached.

I guess the UCI is trying to find some way to make themselves appear useful.

Well, the UCI's chief financial backer has retired and is racing triathlons now so they do need a new source of funding ;)

It seems that half the World Tour teams are illegal.Only Trek and Pinarello seem like they have embraced the new process.

This clause makes a lot of difference.
Models on the market, at the production stage or already manufactured on 1 January 2011 are not required to be approved during the transition stage. However, the non-approved models have to comply in any case with the UCI technical regulations (Articles 1.3.001 to 1.3.025) and are subjects to the commissaires decision during events.

So if you have a pre 2011 frame you are ok.Provided you can prove compliance with the above to the Commisaire.
