I've had no complaints about my Flobikes subscription (Canadian version) until now, aside from price, but they really dropped the ball by not bothering to take into account the announced schedule change from the UCI. So no live stream and so far no replay available for today's MTB action.

Isa Holmgren riding just an amazing race and would be fifth overall in the elite, even with a terrible start position on the grid. Pretty interesting race to watch. A bit sad for Candice Lil, who was in a medal position for so long
Surely I. Holmgren moves on from U23 racing next year? Outside of lap 1 (a shortened loop, I think) she had the two fastest laps of the entire day.

If she decides to race elites in MTB, must she do the same in CX?

I don't think so, unless it's changed recently. Alvarado won the CX Worlds as an Elite in 2020, but later in the year came 3rd in the U23 XCO Worlds.

Remember, she's still a first year U23, so who knows - but it would appear she's ready for the Elites. She'll race against the Elites in CX, but can ride in U23 in the Worlds/ Pan American champs.

Thanks.

She obviously still has something to prove in U23 in CX where she likely won't even be the favourite in that category (unless Backstedt moves to elites herself).

Selfishly, as a fan of 'cross more than the other disciplines, I'm a bit worried that she'll be reducing her CX program given all the promise she is showing in MTB and on the road (Tour de l'Avenir 2nd, among other results).

Beyond the lack of coverage for relay and younger categories I found the senior Elite cross country lacking and underwhelming.
I watch via discovery + and assume that is as good as it got.
Womens race suddenly happened, on screen literally seconds before the off, commentators seemingly unaware.
Only post race interviews for winners, conducted by Friebe.
Despite what the Pinkbike tiffozi think I general find world cup coverage reasonable, but this was sub standard.

I also have eurosport coverage via skysports which was awful, almost unwatchable. Editing as poor as it ever was, perhaps worse than twenty years ago.

I agree, I think it was extremely poor for the supposed World championships. Eurosport/Discovery didn't seem to have anybody on site, no 'Carlson on course' - and Ric & Oli were in the WB studios (as seen on instagram, eating out with the Olympic/ Vuelta crew on Friday night). Whoever was in charge of production, etc needs educating - it all felt a bit low key; the coverage of the XCC sprint between PFP & Evie was hopeless.

UCI really need to sort out how Worlds are broadcast, as it's quite often poor; I recall Rob apologising for poor camera positions in 2021.
And they should insist that all races are covered/ streamed live - otherwise the bid won't be accepted.

As I've already said, CX manages to provide streaming of all their races, and even the Relay this year.......MTB needs step up.

Are worlds produced by local TV crew while World Cups are produced by the RedBull (formerly)/WB (now) team?

I remember that in Lenzerheide 2018 all races (including relays) were broadcasted and next year, when they were not, Simon Burney said that it was up to local broadcaster decision on what to show.

Yeah, it's a separate deal to the World Cup; so the 'local' TV produces/ films it all. With varying degrees of success. I remember the Lenzerheide Worlds being very good for coverage. Fortunately, next year is back in Switzerland, so we will probably get decent coverage - but it should be like that at all Worlds.........

Leaving it up to the local broadcaster seems like a bit of a cop out by the UCI, as though it's got nothing to do with them. We see the same in other Worlds; XC Marathons usually has horrendous coverage, and last year's women's Gravel wasn't even live.....I mean it was only 2023.

AH had a great race! VK as well! IMO TP was solid, he was just 1% off after a tough June, July, August (Maybe AH was up 1% too).

Oly:
TP 1:26:22
VK 1:26:31
AH 1:26:33

WC:
AH 1:09:51
VK 1:10:13
TP 1:10:30

I know they shortened it because they were worried about storms, but 1:10 is a SHOOORT XCO!

Not quite as 'suspenseful' racing in the ladies race. Congrats PP! AT, and MB too!

I think of Switzerland in XC the same as Belgium in Cyclocross.....but they don't seem to have lots of super talents coming through the Youth categories. I don't know what has gone wrong.

GB with no Juniors in the Top20 which is a bit worrying.

The only worry for US/ Canada is keeping their top riders in MTB - as WT/WWT road teams will surely come calling; both Holmgrens are already at Lidl-Trek, and you imagine they've got their eye on Riley Amos; but he might be like Blevins who prefers the more relaxed MTB world.

On another forum, there's some interesting transfer rumours..........including the possibility of all Olympic medallists changing teams....o_O
You have me intrigued now.
Nothing on retrobikes mountainbike forum, but then Overend and Tomac are as upto date as the discussion usually gets.
PFP is known, Pidcock potentially, but Hatherley is the big one, Specialized perhaps.
I doubt a big new sponsor is coming on board with a new team.

The source is a current coach, and the other half of Catherine Pendrel.

It's the classic post Olympic shake up - but even madder than usual. It seems as if most of the top teams may be affected, especially if N1no calls it quits.
This is what I was thinking. If N1no retires, Scott will be looking for a top name, maybe one with a gold medal.
