Looks like their first limit was just a way to set a bar till they found more info and set up a standard test, which makes sense. The response on how Tri-Bikes are lighter but are not used as a Pro Road racers does, going over the climbs, down the climbs etc. in a group of 200 riders is a good reason to extend the testing and limit I think. Didn't really want to hear about the possibility of a broken carbon frame impaling a rider . Interesting point about how there are only one or two places making the mass produced carbon frames, wonder if they'll tell us who they are  but $30 to make a frame, goes to show how mass produced can lower that price.

There are many, many people who paid waaay too much for a Giant. (one of a couple doing the most volume) It's a point I make often in these forums. Good product, all of it. It's just coming out of a very few suppliers. Trigon (whoever their parent is) used to do lots of product. I don't know any more. Just look around. It's pretty obvious once you see a few sites. There's probably one or two doing some volume that aren't online. The Taiwanese/Chinese focus is sales first and beyond first-tier suppliers, there's lots of fortunes won and lost.

Am I the only one who noticed the basketball court in the middle? Even the UCI's 'home track' is multi-use. Point being, it's still a tiny sport.

and there are many, many people who have paid waaay to much for a colnago (clxs made in the giant factory) not to mention others. Giant and Merdia make the most carbon frames out of anyone and there is very little carbon frames built outside taiwan and china.

That is pretty much true for all carbon bikes including the Colnagos that Colnago builds in Italy. Great bike

I just wonder why you lump Taiwan in with China at all, when in reality Taiwan's political and economic systems give it more in common with Europe and North America than China.

i doubt to many of the bike manufacturers (they hardly manufacture anymore) make a huge profit considering how small the sport is and there investment in the sport, sponsoring teams and advertising. The exceptions being the american bikes, twek, specialised, giant and scott.

If anybody has ever been to Interbike, there is a whole big section from China there. They are making all kinds of things. In their booths they will have all shapes of tubes to be made into a bike. Just take your pick. These frames can be bought on ebay for $350. Or, I know some people that have a lot made up and then have them painted and decals put on. Wheels too. I get emails everyday from all these manufacturers selling frames, wheels, stems, bars hubs. I won't buy them because I don't know about the quality. But they are out there.

hongfu http://www.e-hongfu-bikes.com/
cyclingyong http://www.cyclingyong.com/

and there you have it you will never buy a 2nd hand pinarello again.

These companies claim themselves as manufacturers, I'm not so sure they aren't just resellers.

There is a thread on cheap chinese carbon frames on here, with some great posts by Shane Fedon amongst others.
