Van Garderen slams Cav - not a team player

"Before the Vuelta team time trial he (Cav) was stressed, man. I mean, he really wanted to do well. He has a lot of experience of that kind of race, riding the track, doing team pursuits. So he was really taking charge and telling everyone 'Look, this is what we've got to do; if we do this 100 per cent we're going to win.' But he wanted us to get a pen and paper and write down what we had to do on eve corner, and give it to the directeur. And of course we've got Bernard Eisel in the team too, who just likes to argue for argument's sake. He's telling Cav 'You can't plan everything out, it's not an exact science.'
It was just thus *** fight going back and forth between Bernie and Cav."
"The rest of us were like - can we just ride our bikes now? Can we just get tis training session over so we can get back to the hotel and put our legs up?"

Source: P.37 ProCycling magazine November 2010.

Wow that Cav really is an azz. He wants to do well so he scouted the course and was giving everyone pointers. Outrageous! Scandalous! Should be prohibited!

In all seriousness, I imagine Cav isn't the best person to deal with, but to criticize him over this is a little bit ridiculous. Also TJvG airing this in public seems like pretty bad form. Cav will still likely be in the team next year. Thats a pretty big mouth for such a young rider (TJvG that is)

Lies. Cadel is the most hated rider on this forum.

It does seem like an odd thing for him to come out and say. I guess it shows just how focussed Cav is, which is probably what makes him so good.

Sounds to me that Cav is a real winner. Sure he's an *** to get along with, but that doesn't take away the fact that he's a real winner.
He just hates losing so bad that he's going to the limit to make sure he wins. It's funny though that Eisel likes to argue with him just because he likes too ;)
Also not so nice by Tejay, but also fun to read so I don't mind ;)

Haven't been on the forum board for a while? He maybe driven but it seems he seems a bit condescending.

Guys on here don't like winners. Douchedeal can't stand the thought that shadow riding the Tour is all he will ever do and he hates guys who win. The more they win the more he hates it.

Bit sad really but I guess he always has the forum for comfort.

The usual rubbish I have come to expect. The quote comes from procycling magazine and you seem to be missing the final part of the quote, which I am sure was an oversight on your part and not a bitter "douchebag" trying to create a story that does not exist for his own ends.

"But its why I absolutely love being on this team. We laugh and joke and we're always taking the **** out of each other. It's a good vibe. And we nailed that team time trial"

Yes it really sounds like he has a serious issue with Cav. FFS.

Cool story bro. How about backing up what you wrote with a source, or don't you do that?

+1. Even without this, I'd already asked myself whether Van Garderen's words were actually intended to be negative at all.

In these times of blogging, forums, Twitter etc, there are many different truths and we arrive at our chosen truth by mutual consent or by tribal affiliation. These days I find that I question almost everything I read.

Oh, look, old Douchebagster is once again railing about those who don't like those he has a mancrush on, no matter whether those riders are hardcore dopers, world class jerkoffs, or both. He just cannot seem to understand that other people are turned off by fartknockers, undoubtedly because he is one himself.

This seems another non-story...especially given the closing quote provided by lanternrouge (thanks).

Teejay seems a rather sharp young man and it just seems unlikely he'd be railing one of the team's stars in a rag...

----

And BroDeal said fartknocker, which is hilarious and makes me want to dig up Beavis and Butthead quotes...:D

Sounds like he was desperate to win and get the leader's jersey?

Should we blame him?

Does he deserve a leaders jersey from a TTT? He's never going to win a GT or any tour short of maybe Qatar so why put him in the jersey? More deserving riders than him on the team.

Well I could imagine he would chuck a hissy fit if they told him he's not crossing the line first.

+2, I was just about to type something similar.

The Hog, what happened to you? You used to be a good poster. Trying to find an outlet for all that Armstrong ire now he's on his way down?

I can understand it, that why I don't like you. All you do is post dumb posts slagging riders off. You obviously get of on it but it doesn't make you less of a tosser.

He's cuddled up to Brodeal. They feed each other snippets amongst other things
