In 2014, we were 2 years into the British/Ineos dominance. In 2012 the Brits had won their first TdF going 1 and 2 in GC. In 2013 the new GT star had the GC locked up after the first mountain stage, winning it by many minutes while the older Brit didn't even finish the Tour. That older Brit won Olympic TT gold in London. In 2014, Vincenzo Nibali won the Tour de France.

In 2022, we'll be 2 years into UAE/Slovenian dominance. In 2020 the Slovenians won their first TdF going 1 and 2 in GC, and in 2021 the new Slovenian superstar had the GC locked up after the first mountain stage winning it by minutes while the older Slovenian didn't finish the Tour. That older Slovenian won Olympic ITT gold in 2021.

Time is a flat circle. In 2022, Vincenzo Nibali will win the Tour de France once more.
Yes, certo.

The older Brit didn't start Tour 2013 (in fact he didn't start any other Tour after winning it). :p

According to this logic, Slovenians will also win the Tour de France from 2023-27.

I look forward to seeing Jan Tratnik's breakthrough victory in 2026.

Although riding Flanders and Roubaix will be decided after MSR, Nibali will start for the first time in his career Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, confirmed for 26 feb. He is now preparing the season with the team in Calpe.
Yeah read about it here (in Italiano)

Disappointing news this morning
I agree. Frankly his chances of winning a GT stage or even making an impact on the race are about as good as...doing the same in P-R. So why not give P-R a go? It would be great publicity for Astana, and who knows what can happen in that race?

I'd love to see him "tick off boxes" as said upthread in his final season. I've seen him win GTs. I don't need to see him in a ceremonial procession around France as pack fodder this July.
