Likely stage winners; Appollonio, Sabatini, Davis, Van Hummel, Haedo, Gavazzi.

Not a lot of fast men in the race and plenty of GC contenders on the same time - could be an interesting sprint...

Menchov to spring a surprise.

Like wearing a funny hat or throwing stuffed olives at the moto-cameras.

But seriously, here are my calculations for positions 2 to 6. The figures in brackets reflect the total sum of positions on stages 1, 2, 4 and 5 but not stage 3 as it seems is was not counted for this purpose.

Van Den Broeck (72)
Martin (76)
Sanchez (94)
Uran (94)
Cunego (110)

Theoretically, using my method, Uran should be ahead of Sanchez as, in the case of a tie, the most recent stage is taken as the decider.

So, if anyone can explain this and/or provide a more accurate reasoning to the current GC placings, please do.

Maybe its the day for a big break to get away, would improve matters towards the end as hopefully then not many of the sprinters would bother with sprinting for 14th place.

Saw Kenny quoted as favourite for this stage last night. Would think Appollonio would be quite handy if it comes down to a bunch gallop but they may decide he is better off looking after Uran as they only have a three man team.

Lulu Sanchez to win the stage from a break.

Its not just the climbers and sprinters. If you were well placed then you could try to get your team mates to sprint from further back hoping to get an extra place or two separating yourself from, say, VDB. Some big points at stake in this race.

Exactly - appolonio should be leading Uran out and then getting straight in to his wheel.

They won't. I am sure of it. They just wrote that imo, Appo will lead out Uran for sure...hopefully

They would be much better off going for stage wins instead of moving up GC placings. There is no prestige left in this race and its not like they will be struggling for WT points at the end of the season. Stage victories should be much more important than GC in a race like this

I think they'd be crazy to go for Uran rather than Appollonio for the win, but there is not just the possibility of moving up onto the podium for Uran, but also the possibility of moving down to 15th (or wherever the maths allows).

No reason they can't both sprint really.
