I assume we are doing official threads.

As much I would like Lars Boom to win, my head say's Fabian Cancellara will win.

Spartacus himself says he's out-of-form and don't consider himself the biggest favorite. Even not in his best shape he should be able to be top5, though. Other names could be David Millar, Tyler Farrar (remember his prologue in Eneco tour?) and Sami Sanchez.

Cancellara said in an interview with swiss newspaper "Basler Zeitung" that his main focus was the world championship, he did not specially prepare for vuelta time trials and that the prologue was no target for him.

Grabsch was ill last week - I think it's Boom or Farrar who's gonna make it today. Possibly Rabon, but I did not see him racing for a while.

Farrar or Boonen for ASSEN. I have a gut feeling it will not be a Cancellara day. Even if he does win it will only be by a few seconds. Canc is not guranteed win on this course as it is so short.

What about CTT konovalovas, is he good in the short prologue style TTs? Taaramae winner of L'ain and Estonian TT champion =)? Disappointing Tdf rider Stijn Devolder? Lieuwe Westra, whose father died only a couple of days ago before he could witness the start of the Vuelta?

Does anyone have a full list of riders and times? I've checked every site I can think of and can't find it anywhere...

hmm did they postpone the starting time. It was 10AM and now it's 11 AM

eurosport ticker

Meilleur temps pour Irizar Aranburu Markel (Euskaltel) en 5'43. Le Basque devance désormais Svein Tuft (Garmin) d'une petite seconde.

Yes, all tv coverage has gone back one hour. So, we are all still waiting.
Don't you fancy the guy in your avatar, today?
He's always done really well in Dauphine prologues, which are roughly the same length.....

According to cyclingfans.com, the first rider started 14 min late. Not sure why Universalsports is starting an hour later than advertised. Maybe the commentator called in sick and they are having to fly in Phil and Paul....

He should do well, although I am more interested in the performances of the 'lesser Gods"

Update: Classement provisoire : 1 Bodnar : 5'46, 2 Herrero Llorente à 3', 3 Kiryienka à 3', 4 Irizar Aranburu à 4', 5 Tuft à 5'.

Rabon already finished, but outside the current top 5

Sporza is on tv, now.
Jeez what appallingly wet conditions.
Carlos Barredo crashes on the start ramp, so they have now covered it.
Millar has almost come down on 3 corners, then had the Lampre team car blocking his exit line, on a corner.
Just getting around unscathed, is going to be an achievement.
