Not sure if it's been discussed, but aside from the abvious big boys listed in the hype thread, does anyone have hopes for a dark horse GC contender, and or a successor to Cav's sprint throne for the Giro?

if you're talking about a dark horse for GC, perhaps you can take Johan Chaves. If he's on song, he is one of the best climbers out there. Really looking forward too him the next three weeks. Same as Yates ofcourse.

And if Papy Horner fails (which ofcourse is not the case;)), i'm wondering how Winner Anacona will manage after his good showing at Utah

First GT of course, but with this parcours who knows.

In case Contador falls of his bike, this man will step up:

Forsure Chaves is on my dark horse list. It will be interesting to see how he goes.

Louis Meintjes could be a dark horse for the Vuelta. I have no doubts that he would be capable to do something like Barguil last year, going for stages successful. Peaking for GC would be to early and besides that I think that MTN will go for a unseen Top 15 GC spot with Pardilla.
Although Meintjes will be my man to watch!

+1 to Geraints Dan Martin.

I'll add Yates for some possible Barguil like rides.

Betancur, Monfort, VDB2, and Navarro for GC dark horses.

Arredondo for as both a GC and stage win dark horse.

Pelucchi, Felline for sprints.

Its going to be a strange one, with some big names trying to rescue their seasons coupled with the World Championship contenders using it as an extended training ride as usual. Not sure how those two factors are going to combine.

But, dark horse? Dan Martin.

Yes! Winner Anacona is now the dark horse! top 10!!!

I'm hoping for some good rides by Winner. Horner not starting could be exactly the chance he needs to do so.

He's been pretty crap the last couple years but finally is looking to be coming into some good form. :)
